One Eye

"Your woman is here."Alexis said, staring at Adrian with a poker face.

"Veryyyyy  funny." Adrian replied.

They were in the middle of their General knowledge class and the lecturer in class was that same wrinkly, non intimidating, forty year old lady he had an encounter with.

Today was different because Adrian was actually  paying attention to what she was teaching.

"It's been a hundred and fifty years after the Great war, and as you all know some places are no longer inhabitable due to the presence of Mutated beasts  and residual nuclear radiation.

Those mutated beasts are also ranked according to our rating scale going from F to S rank, I deliberately omitted the ranks above because it's impossible for a being above the S rank to exist on this planet without us getting wind of  it's existence. We control seven regions in the world which we now know as the seven kingdoms ruled by the Royal houses." She said.

"Excuse ma." Alexis raised his hand interrupting her speech.

"How come generations before us were not able to control elements, phenomena and so on?"

" That's confidential information, but I'll give you a tiny piece of information. Mankind's evolution came as a result of the invasion from the Outsiders. I am sure most of you were told several things about that period, well i was told by my grandpa that they were stronger, bigger and faster than we were. They were even more advanced technologically. As a result, we were at the losing end. We kept taking heavy casualties until one man in particular changed everything and brought about peace as we know it.

My grandpa believed they would come back one day, but it's been One hundred and fifty years and nothing has happened. I believe the war made him a little loco." Her concluding statement amused the students, causing them to laugh. Adrian and a few others including his roommates actually believed her Grandpa had some sense in his sayings.

"Well it's not like you can do shit about it if they come back, why bother myself." Adrian thought.

The class carried on  with the woman blabbing about other things and finally it came to an end.

"Finally were done I can't wait to get some sleep."Alexis uttered.

*Ding*

A notification came into everyone's watch.

[All students of class 1-D, please head to the Armory.]

The students rushed out of the class with enthusiasm, some even running.

Even Adrian was excited, this was the first time they were going to the Armory and they even had the prospect of obtaining a weapon that would assist them in battle.

It didn't take long for Adrian and his classmates to arrive at the Armory. The steel doors leading into the Armory were massive, they were roughly 10 meters in height and was about a meter thick.

*Creak*

The door slowly opened revealing a white haired man with an eye patch on his left eye.

"Come in." He ordered.

Most students could tell that this man leading them into the Armory was not just the average lecturer, he had a menacing aura coupled with the scars on his face and arms showing he had a lot of fighting experience.

They followed him for  a few minutes and were lead into a large room. He pushed open the doors and they all went it.

This room was extremely large and spacious, it was about 12 meters in height and even had two hexagonal fighting platforms similar to those on the training grounds.

"Today you would all select a weapon that suites your  fighting style and ability. The first step to assimilate a  weapon is  by pouring your core energy into the weapon. Next is to force the weapon into a contract, with you as it's master. Once you are able to assimilate a weapon, you should be able to conjure that weapon anywhere, anytime. An assimilated weapon is an extension of yourself and one can only create a contract with one weapon at a time unless it is destroyed. Do well to select the appropriate the equipment."

The weapons in this room were numerous. On every part of the four cornered room, there were weapons hanged from top to bottom of the room. The Armory contained various kinds and forms of  high tech weapons, ranging from melee to ranged  weapons, with several robotic arms used for  bringing down any selected weapons.

Most students including Adrian went ahead to select a weapon of their choice. Ryan, Alexis, Storm and a certain male student stayed behind. Adrian tested various weapons from swords to Spears, Maces, daggers and so on, but none of them were  what he wanted. They were mostly too light, too shinny, too big or too small.

After the selection process, most students came back with a selected weapon while Adrian came back empty handed. The one eyed lecturer went by inspecting the various weapons selected by the students, some of them took melee weapons while most selected ranged weapons. When he got to Adrian,he noticed Adrian was empty handed.

"You!!" The one eyed man said, with a hint of annoyance on his face.

"Why does it always have to be me"Adrian thought.

"Did nothing here fancy your taste?"

"Yes, nothing here suites my fighting style."Adrian replied casually.

"I wonder what gave you the guts to say that. I am aware you are rock bottom shi*t but I never expected you to be an arrogant sh*t. Normally, someone as disappointing as you would keep his head low but you dare reject these weapons. Let's see how long you survive in this school."

The man walked  past the remaining students and finally stopped at Jackson Storm.

"If it isn't the son of Lord Balthazar, brother to the famous Ragnar. I believe you already have a weapon specifically crafted for you by your family, I expect much from you." The one eyed man concluded and went into one of the hexagonal fighting platforms.

"You, with the indigo hair. Step forward!!"
