Alexis stormed the waiting cube designated for his class.
"That was a good fight." Ryan commended but Alexis said nothing in reply.
Adrian noticed his fists were tightly clenched, he could clearly hear Alexis heart pounding viciously.
"Hey bro, what's the matter?" Adrian approached him.
"It's nothing." Alexis replied, the words barely escaping his mouth.
"Come on bro, something is bothering you. It's as clearly as the sky on a sunny day."
"I said it's nothing!!!" Alexis flared up, calling the attention of everyone in the room.
"Please, just let me be." He walked to a corner of the room.
"Don't worry, he would be okay." Ryan placed a hand on Adrian's shoulder.
"Come on, let's watch Jessica's match." Ryan faced the viewing screen.
. . .
Please welcome Anthony Blink from Class 1-A and Jessica Darkside
from Class 1-D!" The announcer said.
Another group of persons appeared in in the ring, fixing the damages that had been inflicted. In less than fifty seconds, the ring was as good as new and there was not even a single scratch or dent on it.
"And if your wondering, she is the daughter of the infamous S-rank Shadow Monarch Grey Darkside." He added.
"The daughter of the Shadow Monarch. She is sure to win."
"What a beauty!"
"That no name kid has no chance."
The audience made several remarks.
. . .
"Who exactly is the Shadow Monarch?" Adrian asked Ryan.
"Are you being serious?? Did you grow up in some remote farm or something?"
"We-ell." Adrian scratched his head embarrassment.
"You're unbelievable. Grey Darkside AKA the Shadow Monarch is one of the most powerful S-rank deviants in the world, although weaker than the Seven Saints." Ryan answered.
"Who are the Seven Saints??" Adrian asked again, scratching his head in embarrassment.
"Go read a book or something!" Ryan replied.
. . .
Back at the Arena, the battle had commenced.
Two minutes had barely elapsed and Jessica was panting like a crazed marathon athlete. She had two pitch black coloured swords in her hand. Both swords were as black as night and they showed no shadow reflection on the ground like any normal object would.
"Are you going to keep running?? Jessica asked in a slightly infuriated tone, her sweat dripping of her face.
"Fight me like any man would!" She urged.
"Blah-blah,I'm so bored." Anthony said to himself, turning his back on Jessica.
"You don't deserve my fists. Come back when your strong enough. " He added in a casual tone.
"You talk about me deserving your fists when all you've been doing is teleporting. Stand and fight!!"She roared angrily.
She then charged at him again with her shadow blades. She swung her sword with every ounce of strength she had, only to strike the ground.
"Where did he go ?" She looked around.
"Hey!!" Anthony waved from where he stood.
"You missed me again." He added with a smile.
"That teleportation ability of yours makes you a coward who only runs away from a fight. have some dignity and stop running." She lashed out.
"Unfortunately, I don't give a shit about my dignity." Anthony stuck out his tongue.
"You!!!" Jessica gritted her teeth.
["Shadow Tentacles!"]
Multiple pitched black coloured crooked tentacles extended from her shadow on the ground. Each tentacle had a pointed mouth, sharp enough to cut a steel bar in half.
"Now would you fight me?" She asked, feeling impressed by her own ability.
"Still not strong enough" He replied nonchalantly, his arms folded across his chest.
"Die Bastard! " The shadow tentacles charged at Anthony.
"Women." Anthony sighed, looking undeterred. He remained at his standing position, his arms still folded across his chest.
. . .
"Does he want to die?"
"He is probably frozen from the fear of facing her."
The audience looked on in anticipation while stating their various opinions.
. . .
Just before the tentacles could reach him, Anthony switched places with Jessica. She got jabbed by her own attack and collapsed to the floor. The tentacles went straight through her body, drilling through her flesh.
The whole arena went dead silent. This wasn't the outcome any of them expected, they were all shocked beyond their wildest expectations. Even the host wasn't spared, His jaws were literally dropped open in shock.
The battle had barely lasted two minutes and it was already over.
She looked at her wounds in shock."How? how did this happen." She asked herself, yet to come to realization.
"You lose!" Anthony grinned.
"I can't lose to you! How can I an A-rank lose to a common C-rank?
No! I won't lose." She punched the floor repeatedly in annoyance.
"I'll kill you!" She got up to her feet, absorbing her attack.
"I'll show you!" She roared.
["Dark Union"!]
Her Shadow engulfed her like a clothing, completely covering her from head to toe. She looked like a 3d living shadow and her shadow reflection vanished.
In a mere seconds she had arrived in front of Anthony, punching him in the face before his eyes could even react.
*Bang!*
The punch knocked him several meters away. His body bounced like a rubber ball repeatedly before finally crashing into the barrier.
Her movements we're so quick, he couldn't even keep up.
Anthony struggled desperately to get of the floor but his body wouldn't budge. His pelvis was fractured from the impact and the overwhelming pain made his body go numb.
"Awwwn! Your struggling." Jessica laughed in a mocking tone.
"I'll put you out of your misery."
