Chapter 44

"Wow, that's... that's..." Spider-Toby was quite excited, unable to find the right words to describe his current feelings.

Mark continued, "I've also seen a female version of Dr. Octopus."

"Dr. Octopus? You mean Dr. Otto Octavius? I never thought there could be a female version," Spider-Toby's face showed a somewhat strange expression.

"Of course, in the vast multiverse, anything is possible," Mark said, "Even Spider-Man can be a woman!"

"Wow?" Spider-Toby completely transformed into a curious baby.

So Mark sat down.

The two of them sat on the edge of a high-rise building dozens of meters above the ground, looking at the sky, and Mark began to share his experiences from the Ultimate Universe.

"It's a pity, such a marvelous experience. Why didn't the particle collider pull me over there?" After listening to Mark's description, Spider-Toby was filled with anticipation and regret.

Although he was Spider-Man, he was just a 17-year-old kid.

Yearning for fantastic adventures was normal for someone his age.

"Don't worry, there will be opportunities," Mark patted Spider-Toby's shoulder.

After all, he had seen "No Way Home."

In "No Way Home," Spider-Toby was taken to Holland Spider's world and embarked on such a fantastic journey.

In fact, the quickest way to meet Spider-Toby and Andrew Spider was to go directly to that world.

However, that world was too complex, involving far too many things, and Mark didn't dare to venture there right now.

Spider-Toby didn't understand Mark's true intentions and brightened up, "Wait, can you take me there?"

"Uh..." Mark hadn't expected Spider-Toby to misunderstand him and hedged his words, "Not at the moment, maybe in the future."

"That would be awesome!" Spider-Toby exclaimed with a smile.

"Well then, how are you feeling now? Have you rested enough?" Mark asked.

Although they had just met and chatted, Mark noticed that Spider-Toby's body had suffered serious injuries from stopping the train with his bare hands, so he wanted him to rest a bit more.

Spider-Toby leaped up agilely, displaying his dexterity.

He clenched his fists, and the muscles on his arms bulged.

"I feel completely recovered!"

Mark nodded and put on the nanotech battle suit again.

"Alright, let's go. Lead the way."

The two of them leaped down from the high building, one after the other.

While Mark and Spider-Toby had a friendly encounter, on the other side, Dr. Octopus was not feeling so well.

The artificial intelligence in his mechanical tentacles carried the unconscious Dr. Octopus for a while before finally returning to his laboratory hidden in an abandoned church. They put him down there.

After some time, Dr. Octopus slowly regained consciousness.

In one corner of the church, Mary Jane, who was chained with a thick iron chain, saw Dr. Octopus's miserable state and loudly mocked, "Weren't you going to find Spider-Man? How did you end up like this?"

"Hmph!" Dr. Octopus rubbed his head to somehow remove his headache and felt a bit annoyed by Mary Jane's mockery.

However, he didn't immediately retaliate against her.

Dr. Octopus didn't know that Peter Parker was Spider-Man because Harry Osborn had only told him that Peter Parker was friends with Spider-Man - because he always took photos of Spider-Man.

So, Mary Jane was taken as a hostage, and only when she was in his hands would Peter Parker seek Spider-Man's help, giving Dr. Octopus a chance to capture Spider-Man.

It could be considered a lucky coincidence.

Looking back at the device behind him, Dr. Octopus felt puzzled.

He was certain that the Spider-Man who defeated him was not the same Spider-Man who had always appeared in public.

Their equipment and even their fighting styles were completely different.

The previous Spider-Man, though fast, lacked finesse in his actions.

When faced with Dr. Octopus's four mechanical tentacles, he often became flustered.

But the new Spider-Man that appeared was stronger and faster than the previous one.

Most importantly, he was ruthless in his attacks, directly aiming for vital areas.

Simple but effective.

It was terrifying.

"Where did that Spider-Man come from?" Dr. Octopus couldn't figure it out.

"Hey! If you don't release me soon, watch out for Spider-Man beating you to a pulp!" Mary Jane, however, was still persistent, shouting loudly.

"Shut up!" Dr. Octopus exploded in anger, and one of his mechanical tentacles swiftly shot forward, stabbing fiercely into the ground in front of Mary Jane.

The whole ground seemed to tremble.

Mary Jane fell silent.

She had initially thought that Dr. Octopus would be scared off after being defeated, and he would give up on the idea of capturing her. However, this strange man showed no fear at all!

For a moment, she didn't dare to provoke him any further.

However, although she didn't provoke Dr. Octopus, he was not ready to let her go. He suddenly thought that there might be some connection between her and his employer, Harry Osborn!

"What's your relationship with Harry Osborn?" one of Dr. Octopus's mechanical tentacles hovered menacingly in front of Mary Jane, and the cold metallic aura penetrated her eyes.

Mary Jane's face turned pale with fright, and she trembled as she replied, "We, we're just friends."

"Is that so? Just friends," Dr. Octopus smirked.

In the next moment, swoosh! Another mechanical tentacle emerged, unfastening the iron chain from Mary Jane's body, and then it grabbed her.

"Let's go meet your friend then, hoping you hold some weight in his heart!" Because of the second Spider-Man, Dr. Octopus decided to abandon the plan of capturing Spider-Man to exchange for tritium.

A hostage might be a good alternative!

In the Osborn mansion.

Harry Osborn sat in front of the window in silence, with a glass of red wine nearby, but he had no interest in drinking it.

He didn't know if what he did was right or wrong.

In order to fulfill his desire for revenge against Spider-Man, he revealed to Dr. Octopus the fact that Peter Parker and Spider-Man were friends.

This act put his dear friend Peter in danger.

On one side was his father's enemy, on the other side was his best friend.

Harry was filled with pain and conflict.

But now that things had come to this point, he could only continue down this path.

Click.

A crisp sound.

The door suddenly opened.

"Who?" Harry stood up, picking up a nearby knife, and slowly walked towards the door.

Whoosh.

A gust of wind blew in from the window, passing through the room's furnishings.

The sound echoed in Harry's mind, turning into bursts of maniacal laughter.

"Who! Show yourself!" The dagger was unsheathed, and Harry shouted while turning around.

But on the other side was a full-length mirror.

In a daze, the figure in the mirror was not himself but his deceased father - Norman Osborn!

"Son, it's me," the father in the mirror even spoke!

"Dad?" Harry was stunned, "I thought you were gone."

"No, I've always been alive in your heart, Harry," his father in the mirror said, "Now, it's time for you to make your appearance!"
