"Uh, I'm going to perform major surgery on your genes next. Would you like to get some rest?" Mark said to the 94th Spider.
"Okay," the 94th Spider was about to respond, but Mark extended his hand, causing him to collapse.
Currently, the 94th Spider's entire body was under Mark's control, making it extremely easy to sever the connection between his nerves and his body.
If Mark had malicious intentions, he could even keep the 94th Spider in this state indefinitely, rendering him essentially a vegetable!
Afterward, using Dr. Maria's practical example of a mutant genome as a blueprint, Mark began performing full-body surgery on the 94th Spider. With a blueprint in place, the actual operation was relatively straightforward, mainly involving repetitive copying and pasting.
It was rather tedious work, considering there were countless gene groups in the human body. Although he didn't need to replace and adjust each group individually, it was still a significant undertaking.
After half an hour of continuous repetitive work, Mark was already beginning to regret it.
"This quantum genetic enhancement surgery can't be performed often in the future; it's utterly exhausting!"
At that moment, he suddenly had an idea. Perhaps he should consider reaching out to this world's Lizard Doctor, namely Curt Connors. In this world, Dr. Connors was a genuinely good person, an outstanding biologist who was dedicated to his family, ethical in his research on new genetic technologies, and focused on benefiting humanity.
In the storyline, he calculated and executed a plan to move the imperfect mutant genes from the 94th Spider to the Vulture, ultimately freeing the 94th Spider from the risk of genetic mutation. Convincing him should be a breeze for Mark.
Dr. Connors' greatest wish was to regrow the arm he had amputated, and with Mark's current abilities, it would be simpler than eating and drinking for Mark to regenerate an arm for him. Additionally, using Mark's quantum simulation, the regenerated arm would be identical to Dr. Connors' real body.
Time passed by minute by minute.
Boom!
A sudden roar of an engine resounded from outside.
Mark and Gwen's spider senses activated simultaneously!
Gwen stood by the window, gazing down and said, "It's the Punisher."
Mark had a slight headache. "This guy just doesn't give up."
Gwen asked, "Should I go talk to him?"
"Smash his van." Mark replied.
The Punisher's van was a base-modified vehicle filled with various equipment, serving as his primary combat asset. Comparatively, the Punisher's personal strength fell short in the presence of an enhanced Gwen.
So, if they destroyed his car, he would retreat.
"Okay," Gwen agreed and opened the window, leaping down.
Down on the street, the Punisher got out of the car and aimed a rocket launcher upward. He had previously placed a locator on the 94th Spider during their confrontation and had returned to this location following the signal.
"Wait, Frank, that's not Spider-Man; it's just a girl!" The Punisher's assistant in the back spoke through the car's monitor, immediately trying to stop the Punisher from taking action.
The Punisher didn't hesitate, replying, "When justice is being served, there are always some necessary sacrifices!"
As he said this, he pulled the trigger directly.
"You pay a high price for your justice." a voice rang out.
In the blink of an eye, Gwen appeared next to the Punisher, inserting her fingers into the trigger just as he was about to pull it.
Despite her fingers appearing delicate and fragile, Gwen's physical abilities were even stronger than the average Spider-Man.
The Punisher was directly immobilized.
Then, Gwen delivered a knee strike directly to the Punisher's abdomen as she restrained her strength. However, even with reduced force, her power was sufficient to send the Punisher flying several meters away.
The rocket launcher slipped from his grasp.
Gwen retrieved the rocket launcher, aimed it at the Punisher, and fired it directly at him.
"I wonder if you're willing to make sacrifices for the so-called justice?"
Boom!
The rocket soared out.
The Punisher was in panic and quickly activated the jet behind his armored suit. Using this brief burst of thrust, he managed to escape into the air.
However, the heavily modified base car behind him didn't fare as well.
The rocket hit the car directly, turning it into a fiery explosion. Some of the concealed weapons inside the car began to detonate one after the other.
In the sky, the Punisher landed on a nearby rooftop, gazing down at the burning base car with a grim expression.
"Damn it! Who is that girl?"
"Frank, how are you? I suddenly lost the signal from this end. What happened over there?" The voice of the chip (the Punisher's first assistant) came through the earpiece.
The Punisher said, "That girl took away the rocket launcher, and the car blew up."
"In that case, you'd better return immediately. We can reconsider capturing Spider-Man later," the chip advised.
The Punisher was somewhat reluctant, but thinking about the girl's skills he had just witnessed, he agreed, "All right, let him enjoy a bit more freedom for now. I'll definitely catch him!"
After saying that, the Punisher glanced once more at the location he had pinpointed earlier and then looked at Gwen standing below.
Coincidentally, at this moment, Gwen also looked at him with a sly smile. She raised the rocket launcher in her hand high, pointed it in his direction, puckered her lips slightly, and simulated an explosion sound.
"Boom~"
The Punisher was startled and instinctively tried to evade.
The next moment, he remembered that the rocket launcher was single-shot and had no ammunition left. He felt somewhat embarrassed; he hadn't expected that one day, he'd be swiftly dealt with by a seemingly delicate girl.
With this in mind, he couldn't stay any longer, decisively turned around, and made a run for it.
Gwen casually tossed the rocket launcher onto the street, saying, "Huh, he's running away? I thought he'd put up more of a fight."
She then lightly pointed her toes and leaped high into the air, landing on the windowsill, continuing to watch out for danger by the window.
Mark asked in confusion, "Why did you come back so quickly?"
Gwen shrugged, "I blew up his car with his own rocket launcher, and he ran off. Who knew he'd be such a scaredy-cat."
Mark thought for a moment, estimating the Punisher's current psychological trauma. He figured it could be a problem, and he couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for him. The Punisher probably hadn't expected that an unfamiliar, cute girl could be so skilled.
Gwen's spider abilities were naturally inclined towards speed and agility, particularly her burst of speed, which was nearly equivalent to teleportation. Madame Octopus had learned this the hard way, and the Punisher was simply following suit. In this light, he didn't lose much face.
"But wasn't it supposed to be a very complex surgery? Why do you seem so idle?" Gwen looked at Mark and walked over to his side.
Mark smiled, "The most complex steps were completed with Dr. Maria's assistance. Now, I'm just mechanically finishing the last steps, that's why."
"Okay," Gwen couldn't resist giving Mark a kiss on the cheek.
"Hey, why the sneak attack? I'm requesting a replay."
Gwen, with a bit of a tsundere attitude, turned away and returned to her post by the window.
Dr. Maria sat nearby, her spirits somewhat recovered, but still somewhat weary. Upon seeing this scene, she smiled and teased, "Your relationship is really good, huh?"
"Hehe, that's because Gwen is my dearest." Mark, whose skin had grown considerably thicker, boasted unabashedly.
It was Gwen's face that seemed a bit unnatural this time.
Dr. Maria couldn't help but wear an auntie-like smile as she watched the two of them, reminiscing about her own time falling in love with Sergei (Kraven).
The surgery lasted a full hour.
One hour later, Mark took a long breath and withdrew his abilities.
He felt like he had expended about seventy to eighty percent of his physical energy! Such a surgery, he swore, he wouldn't do it again unless it was for someone extremely important. It was incredibly exhausting!
He felt like he had just run a half marathon back when he was a regular person during his college days. It was all thanks to that rascal, Landry.
That guy had secretly used his ID to sign him up for a half marathon but didn't tell him about it until the day of the race when he dragged him to the marathon venue.
He was just an ordinary student who spent most of his time in the library or the lab; how was he supposed to manage this? But Landry had dragged him through the entire 21 kilometers, all in the name of "Mark's health."
Mark plopped down in a nearby chair. Gwen came back and stood behind him, giving him a massage sympathetically.
"It's alright, Gwen. I'm just a bit tired. I need some rest," Mark said.
"Hmm... Is the surgery over?" 94th Spider asked, groggily awakening.
He looked at the ceiling, slightly confused, and then suddenly felt something was off with his body.
"What's happened to my body? I feel so light and filled with strength! Have I turned into a monster?"
"But I still have two hands and two feet. So I guess I haven't turned into a monster. That's great!"
"But where did this strength come from? Does surgery increase strength? Can we do it again?"
94 Spiders woke up and began spouting questions like a machine gun.
Mark was left speechless. Gwen, concerned for Mark, directly chastised 94 Spiders, "Please be quiet. Mark has expended a tremendous amount of energy to perform this surgery and now needs some rest."
She thought Mark was staying quiet due to exhaustion, but in reality, he was thinking about something else.
