Chapter 29: Furious and jealous

Avery went to the hospital to go check on her father. On getting there, she went straight to the doctor's office and greeted him. Good day doctor. She greeted as she sat down. The doctor greeted her back.

Doctor, how is my father? She asked worriedly. But what the doctor said paralyzed her.

"Am sorry Mrs Avery, but failure to pay the money within five days, his life...

No doctor. I promise to get the money before the five days is up. She cut him off afraid to hear the rest of the words."

Okay. The doctor said and Avery left the hospital. She must find a way to get the money or else she might lost her only source of happiness. Avery could only think of one thing and that is too ask James for the money. She doesn't care whether he punishes her or not.

She will rather go through hell than lose her source of happiness. She thought as she entered the car and the chaffeuer drove off in max speed.

Meanwhile, Becky was in her office lost in thoughts. She don't know but why does it feel that James is slowly beginning to fall in love with Avery. She thought. There is only one way to find out. But wait, the first time she tried attacking Avery James had sent his most powerful man to protect her. And the second time was ... When she had stained Avery engagement dress. No! James can't fall in love with Avery.

Never!!!!! She thought as she tore the paper on her hand. She was furious and jealous. Jealousy was an understatement as she plan to look for ways to terminate Avery. But how??

She must find a way to kill Avery without the knowledge of James. There must be a way. She thought.

James was in his study room typing on his laptop. He was so focused on what he was doing. As he was typing, his eyes caught sight of the contract rules. But he averted his gaze away. He has made up his mind that he will hardened his heart towards her. He took the contract and kept it in his locker. He closed his laptop and went downstairs only to see Avery seated on the lounge.

He ignored her and went to the garden. Avery saw him and ran after him. She didn't bother to tiptoe. James! She called out loudly as she entered into the garden. She followed James deeper and deeper into the garden till she saw him stopped walking fast.

She finally breath in relief because she was trying to catch up with his fast legs.

James! She called as she rushed to stand in front of him. I have been calling you for ages. She said with all form of seriousness. Avery has also made up her mind that she will do everything in her power and might to save her father's life. Even if James gives her the most hardest punishment. She don't care anymore.

James once again didn't answer her as if he has become a muted robot. But his gaze were fixed on her. Please answer me. She said with a sour voice.

And what if I don't want to ? He asked with an evil smirk. Then I will keep calling you till you answer. She replied decisively.

James smirked and cupped her cheeks. Listen to me girl, I am not in the mood for your tantrums. He said with a firm voice and a dangerous tone.

He let go of her cheeks and was about to leave when Avery spoke stopping his advance.

"I will only leave you if you give me what I want. " She said and James was rooted to the ground unable to move. What the hell is this girl saying? Didn't she read the consequences of asking for something from him? He thought as his gaze flew towards her.

Have you forgotten the second rule of the contract rules? He asked with a serious tone. His eyes Sharp.

No I haven't. But James just bend this rule for the sake....

SHUT UP! He yelled loudly and Avery gulped hard her heart beating erratically in her chest. He walked towards as his aura ooze dangerously and Avery felt her throat dry.

What did I warn you about? You are a contract wife. A payback to the debts your so called father owed me. He yelled as his eyes burned dangerously. Avery felt sour at his word. She tried to hold in the tears in her heart but it seems like her heart couldn't take it anymore. She suddenly felt something hot and wet rolled down her cheeks non stop. It was her tears.

Alright then. I agree to what you said. I am a payback. She said. Listen to me Avery, I won't say this again. YOU ARE A PAYBACK TO THE DEBTS YOUR FATHER OWED ME. He said coldly and heartlessly.

Avery wiped her tears away and stared deeply into his eyes and spoke,

" Once the money is fully paid, will you set me free?" She asked.

James was taken aback as he stared at her back. He could see the pain in her eyes. It was as though she was tired of this world. Of his own world. For some unknown reasons to him, he felt his heart constrict in a way he has never felt.

Why was his heart acting like this. He averted his gaze from her as he hardened his heart towards her. The only way he got to the top was the fact take he used his brain. To him the heart was like a soft balloon that can easily burst with just a light punch. That's why it's best to use your brain than your heart.

Reason ,the heart will confuse you and make you do things you don't want to.

"The answer to the question you asked is invalid. " He replied and Avery stared back at him not saying anything. They locked eyes for so long until Avery finally spoke.

"I will run away to a place you will never find me." She said and ran away from the garden back to her room.

James was taken aback by her last words but he shrugged it off. There is no way she will do that. He thought. But his expression was unfathomable as he left the garden .
