Chapter 36: Serious conversation

The next day was a bright and sunny day. Mrs Smith was making calls and preparation for her son's wedding coming up soon. She was so happy that Avery was her daughter -in law. She will prove it to those worthless Will family that Avery is worthy of being James wife. While she was on a call, Nina walked up to her.

"Mother." She called her as she sat next to her.

What is it ? Her mother asked as she ended the call.

It's about Avery and James. Are they really going to get married? Nina asked calmly.

Yes. Mrs Smith replied.

Why must they get married? A voice spoke from upstairs. It was none other than Aunt Circe. She slowly ascended the stairs with pride and elegance.

She walked towards them and sat opposite them.

So that the world will know who is the real billionaire wife. Mrs Smith smirked and excused herself away from her. Nina felt happy within but Aunt Circe rolled her eyes.

She looked at Nina with a smirk as if challenging her. But Nina ignored her and was about to leave when ------

"Fedrick broke up with you". She said shocking Nina. Nina froze and was overly speechless. What? How does this woman know? The only person that knows is Avery and she won't dare tell another third party.

Nina took in a deep breath to calm her fast beating heart and slowly turned to look at her aunt.

What are you talking about? Nina asked calmly with a blank face.

You know too well. Aunt Circe said sharply.

I know nothing of what you are talking about. She denied.

You love him but he broke up with you. Her aunt added and Nina closed her eyes to avoid the tears from slipping down her cheeks. After some time, she opened her eyes and looked calm.

We didn't break up. He had some things to do. Nina said. And please learn to mind your business from what doesn't concern you. She added and was about to walk again when Circe said something that froze her whole being.

"Olive is dating Fedrick. " Aunt Circe said and walked away leaving Nina shattered. Nina was so shocked that she felt her heart ripped apart from those words.

What? She couldn't believe her ears as she left the mansion. She entered her car and drove straight to James mansion.

Avery was descending the stairs when she saw Becky and James in the lounge. They were having a serious conversation. Jealousy hit her like never before. Why? Why was she jealous? She doesn't love him neither does he love her; so why was she acting like a jealous wife. To everyone that knows, she was a contracted wife used as a payment to come and suffer.

She took in a deep breath before calming her racing heart. She walked towards the dinning room and saw it empty. She wasn't hungry cause the moment she saw Becky with James, her appetite vanished like a thin air. She couldn't seat where two madly in love people are. She'd just die of hypertension and heart break.

She walked inside the dinning room and sat down doing nothing. She brought out her phone to keep her self busy but saw an unread message from an unknown number. She was about to click on it when she heard his deep masculine voice.

"Why didn't you call the maids or the butler to attend to you?"

I am not hungry. She said as she stood up. She was about to leave when,

Are you sure you are not hungry or you couldn't bear the fact I was talking to the love of my life? He asked with his hypnotizing voice again rendering her speechless.

Moments ago, When Avery went to the dining room, James had seen her and he noticed she was in a bad mood. So he excused himself from Becky and went to meet her. Of course, Becky noticed it and anger blurred her vision. She was angry and jealous that Avery was getting James attention and that seems to prove her points and suspicion.

James is slowly falling for that loser girl. She discarded that thought and left the mansion. As she left, she saw Nina's car and she wondered what news that girl has brought for Avery. She must find out from Olive.

If Olive had gotten close to Avery, she would have find out Avery's weak point and use it against her. She thought and entered her car and drove away.

I am not hungry. She said as she stood up. She was about to leave when,

Are you sure you are not hungry or you couldn't bear the fact I was talking to the love of my life? He asked with his hypnotizing voice again rendering her speechless.

Avery shook her head. She chuckle lightly.

Why would I be? She asked softly.

For some unknown reasons, James found her laughter soothing. But he discarded that thought.

It's better that way. Don't act like a jealous wife when we are not in love. He said and Avery nodded thoughtfully. He left her and went back to the lounge to get his car keys when he saw Nina at the entrance of his house. He knew his men had refused her entry. It was his order. No one was allowed into his mansion.

He snapped his finger and a hefty looking man walked towards him head bow.

Let her in was what left his mouth and the man nodded and left.

Meanwhile, the guards outside were so intimidating that had Nina Abit scared. Even though they have intimidating guards back at home, they weren't as intimidating as James own.

Please, I am here to see Avery. She said.

But the guards were not paying attention to her. To them , she was like an invisible person.

Pls let me --

Let her in. A deep voice spoke. It was Adam. James strongest man.

With that word, they let her in.

On getting inside, Nina and Avery made eye contact and rushed to hug each other. My love!! They said happily as they pulled away. James ignored the two girls and left for work.
