Devil's Game

A broken angel fell to hell one day,

The devil saw and had something to say,

And so he cautiously and carefully made way,

To the most beautiful thing his eyes saw that lay,

Her wings battered, her knees bruised,

The devil was tired but amused,

An angel in hell? He was so confused.

Yet he still tried to help, even if she refused.

The lord of lies for the first time spoke truth

He promised to stay with her even if she's uncouth.

Covered in blood, grime, and dirt; she still shines bright

The devil couldn't help but notice the light.

So the lonely devil helped her to her feet,

He sang wonderous songs, tunes that were sweet,

He offered her everything that hell had to greet,

He didn't had much, but he still wanted to treat,

Though powerless and weak, he tried to heal her wounds quick,

He tried his very best, he tried every trick,

But no matter how hard he fixed her wings, they simply wouldn't click,

She didn't want to hurt the devil

The angel told him to stop

But the devil insisted, he knows he can try,

He will make sure, that the angel will never cry,

Oh broken angel, can you not see,

This devil will never be free,

His sins keep him here, and so does he,

He won't let any other feel the same way as him, so let him be,

Soon enough, the broken angel was home,

The devil though tired, was again alone,

He smiled despite the sins he had to atone,

He couldn't fly, but simply watched how far she flown,

The angel didn't know, but he is the lord of lies,

The devil eventually had to break his ties,

As she flew, the truth also flies,

The devil is an angel in disguise,

An angel that's broken, who fell down to hell,

He told of stories no one dared to tell,

He provided gifts no one gave to sell,

He lost his way home, he couldn't hear the bell,

No matter how hard the devil tried, not a single tear came out of his eye,

For each truth he spoke out, the angel only heard his lie,

A lie to keep her happy, to make sure she's safe,

The devil went against everything to deny the chains of fate,

At the tallest stone in hell, the devil reached for the stars

Searching for that broken angel that was filled with scars,

Tried, exhausted, fatigued; he reached for an angel that was never there

He searched for far and wide, yet she was never here,

The devil wanted to chase her badly,

He shouted at the heavens, he made them hear his screams

To every nook and cranny, to every hole and seam

All he wished was to get a single vision of that broken angel, a single gleam,

But she'll never come back, she doesn't exist anymore,

That angel vanished the moment she realized the lie,

The devil didn't break his tie,

That angel wanted to die,

Look at the devil and his despicable disguise,

He never realized he was falling to his very demise,

He did anything and everything for his fate to be defied,

He couldn't bear the thought of losing her forever, to hear her goodbye

And so he jumped off, without a pair of wings,

He remembered all the little games they played, all those little things,

All those sweet songs that both she and he sings,

He reached for that love that so painfully stings,

This is goodbye to my dearest angel,

You push me away as if I'm nothing but a danger,

I gave you my everything, you took me for a stranger,

Despite it all, I could never feel any anger.

As the angel flew up, the devil fell down,

A sad smile forms as he knows that she'll never come back whether dusk or dawn,

She already made her decision, he cannot force her to stay,

Love is a game that the devil cannot play,

Josh stared at the monitor as the first beams of dawn began to shine down upon his face, the bags underneath his eyes were growing but sleeping all day and staying up all night was more than enough to circumvent looking like a corpse.

He smiled slightly, "Devil's Game is so cringe." he muttered to himself.
