"Mhm…" I silently groan. The light pierces my eyes and suddenly I'm awake. "Lily… that you?"

She nods. Hair bunched behind her. "Hey…" She starts. Her voice wavering just a touch. "You- you're alright, yeah?"

I nod.

"Good… That's good. Really good."

I feel a teardrop fall against the back of my shirt. Lily lets herself hug me, strong arms wrapped tightly around me.

"I- I thought that they had… that something had happened."

"Nothing… I-" I pause for a moment and collect my thoughts. "I just grew a bit. I think that I might be more connected to my roots?"

"Roots?"

I nod.

"Yeah. It feels like I'm a bit closer, if that makes any sense."

Lily gently kisses my cheek.

"Of course."

I smile. She doesn't understand. But that's fine. Lily doesn't need to understand. She doesn't.
