DELICTUM - PART 2

The flickering torches lining the stone corridor cast a pale orange glow as Sasha tiptoed through the eerie silence of the keep. Her heart pounded so forcefully that she could feel it thudding against her ribs.

The dank smell of old wet stone mixed with the faint scent of rusted metal filled her nostrils. Sasha's skin prickled with a mixture of fear and excitement as she inched closer to her destination.

The memory of Lena's warning kept rolling around in her mind, sending a sharp chill down her spine.

"If you happen to get caught, do us both a favor, Sasha, and make sure to take one of the pills for yourself. As you saw, I gave you some extras."

She could hear the faint patter of falling rain and the distant sound of thunder. As she reached the bottom step, she muttered under her breath, her words barely audible over the eerie silence.

"Have I not always been loyal to her? How could she think to treat me this way? After everything I do for her."
