INTERMENT - PART 3

Sterling whispered as he watched the exchange between mother and daughter. He reiterated her words. "Summer…" Standing from the bed, he glanced out the window of the one-room home he found himself in. It was indeed summer, and then it struck him.

He was trapped in one of Faye's dreams, and that normally meant it would soon turn into a gruesome nightmare.

The door on the tiny home flung open, and baby Faye, who could have been only four or five years old from the looks of her, jumped up from the table screeching in delight.

"Papa!!!" She happily ran and jumped into the arms of the knight, whose large silhouette filled the doorway.

The Duke watched the happy exchange as Faye's father cradled his daughter in his arms and kissed her rosy cheeks. She giggled wildly and wiggled from his arms.

"Whiskers, daddy, they tickle my face, put me down."

The man gave a lively chuckle and found amusement in her soft-spoken voice.
