Mielle's head dropped to the Duke in defeat, and he could see she was visibly irritated that her plea to him had failed. She bowed to Sterling before leaving the room, but her demeanour was cold.
"Yes, your Grace, I will attend today's duel and support my brother."
Even though she heard the confidence in the Duke's voice about her brother, the strained expression on her face said otherwise. She was still upset to her stomach and not so sure if Tobias could defend himself against the bigger child.
Sterling addressed the maid as he watched her depart from the room, knowing they had to be at the training pitch in less than an hour. "Mielle, we don't have long. I will help the Duchess get ready while you bring her Grace some breakfast."
While Faye sat on the bed across from him, the Duke could see she remained standoffish. He observed the horseshoe furrow in her brow, which showed her displeasure with how he handled the situation with Mielle and her brother.
