After Andre left with Kellem, the spy, to take him to the interrogation cells. The Duke became curious and wondered why the dungeon had been left unguarded.
He spun around to follow Andre.
"Kellem! where are my men?" The Duke asked, running after them.
He captured Kellem by the upper arm, swinging him around to face him.
The spy dropped his gaze to his feet. "They are locked in a cell asleep. I drugged their supper."
There it was, the answer the Duke wanted to know. It infuriated Sterling that someone had broken their defences and made a mockery of the knights, drugging them and locking them in prison cells.
But there was another question still bothering him.
"Why did you leave Sasha?" he asked. "Why did you not break her out of the dungeon and set her free?"
"…"
Kellem stopped walking. He raised his gaze to meet the Duke's and replied.
"Not that I did not try to," Kellem explained.
