"The mobile phone's light illuminated the ground floor, and Nicholas redirected the conversation.

Nicholas, with curiosity unabated, continued with a series of quick, random questions. 

"Have you ever traveled abroad?"

Lance simply nodded, responding with a succinct "Yes."

"Enjoy spicy food?"

Again, a quick "Yes" was Lance's reply.

Nicholas smirked, further inquisitive. "Do you believe in afterlife?"

Lance thought this was his afterlife, which made it all the more perplexing why he wouldn't believe in it.

Lance gave another affirmative "Yes."

Nicholas pressed on, "Ever been skydiving?"

Lance nodded in agreement, "Yes."

"Have a favorite childhood pet?"

Once more, a concise "Yes."

Nicholas grinned, ending with, "Believe in love at first sight?"

Lance chose not to answer the question and instead said, "It's nearly five in the morning."
