Chapter 18-into trouble

Lynn's POV

Sunset, the evening sky ablaze with intense hues, painting the vast expanse in fiery red. Clouds and colors resembled flowing silk draping over the city, akin to a gentle, flickering flame, slowly roasting the busy pedestrians amidst towering buildings.

Inside the office, Karl and I sat leaning against the wall, with an arm's length between us. Half an hour had passed, and neither of us uttered a word.

Teacher Joey was outside the door, engaged in a conversation with Principal Dr. Glu. The door was closed, and occasionally, muffled and indistinct voices could be heard.

I sat cross-legged, my head resting against the wall, gazing at the birds perched on the branches outside the window, my face devoid of expression.

Karl had a fresh handprint on his neck, as if scratched by nails. Several distinct, crimson marks where the skin broke were visible. As I turned my head towards the right window, the skin pulled, causing a burning pain in the wound.
