Chapter 12: Meeting the Pack

“In case we are about to die, I’m really sorry for being a b*tch to you back there,” said Jane as we followed Grayson toward town hall.

“It’s okay. I’m sorry too,” I replied, taking hold of her hand.

The town hall was an outdoor amphitheater with framed bleachers. Trae stood before his pack, his gaze meeting mine as we approached.

I didn’t shy away from his gaze this time. Instead, I locked my eyes on his haunting stare and surprisingly found myself feeling more confident with each step that I took toward him.

“As I stated, these women and the wolf healer that arrived with them are our guests and will be treated as such. If you have any questions or concerns about it, speak them now,” Trae instructed, gesturing towards us.

“They are humans, it’s forbidden to have them here!” declared a bearded man who was scowling at us.

“Yes it’s forbidden!” repeated others in the crowd.

“Enough!” Trae’s deep voice boomed. My skin tingled from his authority echoing through the trees.
