Chapter 13: The Two Healers

*MIRA’S POV*

“You see? How was that for romance? The chemistry between us was just dripping off of the walls…” I whispered sarcastically to Jane after Trae slammed the door behind him that morning. He didn’t even notice me or care to pay me any attention.

“So much for being his guests. Looks like we have to be escorted around like a bunch of inmates,” Jane huffed.

I had felt somewhat reassured after listening to Trae at the town hall meeting the night before and thought that maybe he truly was just trying to protect us. But after that unpleasant reminder from the Alpha of the super a**holes, I was obviously mistaken.

“So much for watching your tongue. You’re lucky it's still intact,” Grayson growled while snatching a piece of toast from my breakfast plate.

“I just asked if we could go for a walk,” I protested, pushing the rest of my food toward him. I no longer felt like eating now that my bubble had burst.
