Chapter 30: No Pressure

*MIRA’S POV*

I watched anxiously as Trae showed Sage the ever-changing crest on his arm. She looked it over carefully, then shot me a concerned glance.

I couldn’t blame her, it did look concerning. One of the wolves beside the shield was fading away and the shield around the moon looked to be crumbling off. Was that my doing? Did I have to choose my mate that urgently?

Blaine stood beside me, his eyes warily watching me stare at Trae, who was now walking to the front of the square in order to address the crowd.

“Thank you for staying,” I whispered to Blaine. “I know it wasn’t an easy decision. I’m sure Trae is grateful too. Even if he’s too stubborn to admit it.”

“I’ll happily stay for you, especially now that Trae made it clear that we weren’t wanted. Pissing him off is just an added bonus,” Blaine scoffed.

“Seriously? Can you two get over your crap already? We have a real enemy to face!” I insisted.

Blaine turned to face me, his eyes were dark and earnest.
