Callie helps support the weakened Eileen as the three of us make our way back to the group. The shock of Callie’s statement still rings in both of our ears. Can it really be over? Are we finally going to get a chance to breathe again?
“What happened?” Eileen asks, tightening her arm around Callie’s shoulder as she tries to hold herself upright more.
Callie continues to support most of Eileen’s weight as they walk, a huge grin warming her face, “After you ran after the van, most of the fight was already over. I got a handle on my enemies, sucker punching them straight into the ground! Like pow! Pow!”
I smile over at her. She’s still got so much energy after everything. It’s honestly endearing.
She glances in my direction, “Anyone ever offers to teach you martial arts, do it. Makes you feel like a freaking god.”
I chuckle, “Will do.”
