Chapter 32: Azandra

Lilia POV

Leaving the feast for a moment to have a private call of nature, Lilia breathed in the sweet scent of the night air and enjoyed the night symphony. Owls, crickets, frogs, night honeycreepers, and of course, wolves. She squatted behind a bush, so close the coarse leaves and branches scratched her bare butt.

She wasn’t so absorbed in doing her business that she didn’t hear someone approaching. Stealthy, like they were trying to sneak up. She leapt up, then jumped out to confront whoever it was.

Azandra raised her hands in the air and nearly fell backward. Lilia reached out and steadied her but Azandra jumped away as if Lilia’s touch burned her. “What are you doing? Squatting in the bushes like a … like a …”

“Human?”

Azandra’s lip curled. “YES.”

“I can’t change what I am, any more than you can, so get used to it.”

Azandra hissed, “You’re so reckless with your own safety, wandering off. You disrespect Dane, his family, and everyone in the pack.”
