Chapter 37: Facing the Enemy

Dane POV

The thick fog proved to be Dane’s best friend because the line of Crimsontail guards would spot his forces immediately without nature’s camouflage.

Somewhere in the fog, Dirge thought to his brothers, “This herbal mix makes me smell like a forest.”

“It and the fog are the only things standing between you and that guard inches away from you,” Jiro replied in their brotherly mind-link. “Besides, Lilia made it for us.”

“I LIKE forest smells,” Dirge thought back. ”How soon before those guards are far behind us?”

“I can’t see my nose on my face in this fog,” Dane responded. “Jiro?”

“I can smell water somewhere ahead,” Jiro said. “Let’s head for the water.”

“If we get into the water, that’ll wash all this stuff off,” Kyon commented.

“We only need it to get past the guards,” Dane reminded them all.
