May You All Die in Horrible Agony! Part II

“Follow me, your performance in this case... will judge whether I will let you pass or not for this OB/GYN ward,” said Professor Kawee before getting up and leaving Doctor Pop there.

Doctor Pop scratched his head in confusion. What case? Why was it so important that it could determine his fate in the OB/GYN ward evaluation?

Since his question couldn’t lead him any further, Doctor Pop got up and quietly followed his professor to the delivery room. A handsome man was standing anxiously in front of the delivery room. That man rushed to ask Professor Kawee as soon as he saw the professor.

“What’s wrong, Kawee? What happened to Petch?”

"No, it's nothing. I've just called a student to study this case," said Professor Kawee, who gently patted his friend's back to console him. Traithip looked at Doctor Pop and whispered.

“But you said there will be fewest people who know about this, didn’t you? Why did you need to call the student in?” Traithip was afraid that more eyes would know about him taking his wife here for an abortion.

"No worries. No one will know about this," assured Professor Kawee. Traithip had no other choice but nodded back. After Professor Kawee had shaken his head to Doctor Pop, signaling him to follow, the young doctor chased his professor to the delivery room with haste.

A lady was lying with her legs on the stirrup in the delivery room while Nurse Ae and Nurse Pia were orderly preparing the equipment for some procedure. Before Doctor Pop could ask, the professor spoke up.

"Doctor Pop, scrape out this woman's uterus."

"What? Curettage? What kind of case is this?” Doctor Pop’s jaw dropped when he heard such an order.

“Abortion… She was raped. It’s an unwanted child. So, we have to take it out.” Professor Kawee said with a calm expression as though he didn't feel anything at all. Unlike Doctor Pop, the young man was reluctant to follow his professor’s orders.

"It's against the law, professor."

“If you don’t do it, I wouldn't let you pass this OB/GYN ward.”

Hearing this sentence from his professor, Doctor Pop was stunned. It was like him being bound to do the wrong thing.

“Hurry up and do it. Hopefully, you will have finished what I said by the time I come back.” Finished speaking, the professor walked out to the front of the delivery room and left Doctor Pop standing there hesitating.

“Hurry up and put on your coat, Doctor Pop, so that we can finish it quickly.” Nurse Ae's voice rang out. Doctor Pop nodded and turned to put on the sterile robe that Nurse Pia was holding. Before sitting down between Petch's legs to prepare for some procedure...something Doctor Aun had never thought someone like Doctor Pop would do!

"Give me a curette," said Doctor Pop. Nurse Pia then sent the scraper to Doctor Pop.

Doctor Pop broke into a sweat, even though it was as cold as the North Pole in the delivery room. The hand holding the curette trembled with fear of doing something immoral. He eventually took a deep breath to gain focus and confidence. When his mind became clear, he slowly inserted a curette into Petch’s vagina. As he was going to scrape out the uterus, Petch cried out softly. Her voice startled the young doctor.

“Don’t hurt my baby, please. Don’t harm him. I’m forced into this abortion.” She gathered all her energy to plead with the doctor before her. Doctor Pop suddenly lost himself. He stepped back amid the shock of Nurse Ae and Nurse Pia.

“How can she be conscious? Didn’t you say she was sedated?”

"She was really sedated but I think it's not strong enough. It’s alright, I'll inject another dose of anesthetic," said Nurse Ae, turning around to prepare an anesthetic for another injection that she put in Petch’s arm with no delay. The girl struggled with all her might. But in the end, she couldn't escape. Petch broke down as her tears flowed down her cheeks.

It was all over... She was going to lose her child, wasn’t she?

The light gradually darkened; her eyelids felt so heavy that she needed to succumb to the drug. Eventually, it was soundless… as silent as the grave, without any sound, even the sound of a beating heart!

Doctor Pop stood still until Nurse Pia gave a warning...so he quickly retook his seat.

“Hurry up, Doctor Pop… We don’t have much time.”

The young doctor had no choice…

Every time he thought of that day, he would be troubled. A secret that he didn’t even dare to tell anyone because that would cost his whole life. If anyone knew, he would have been kicked out of medical school. Perhaps even worse…he would be arrested for an illegal abortion, making the patient bleed to death!

When a cold breeze blew past Doctor Pop's back, he quickly turned around instinctively to find if there was nothing...no one or anything there. The young man let out a long breath and tried to stop thinking about the past so that his mind could be at ease. He had less than an hour before he would have to attend to patients until noon. Doctor Pop needed to rest because dozens of internal medicine patients were sitting and waiting for him... One couldn’t turn back time to fix what they had already done, right?

As hot coffee was emitting an aromatic smell, Doctor Pop took a sip and continued reading the delightful part of the newspaper. Who would have thought that such a trustworthy young doctor would enjoy reading celebrity gossip too? Life was stressful enough. It'd be better to feed one's brain with relaxing content.

It was a weird feeling...

Usually, when one was alone, they would know instinctively as soon as someone approached them that they were no longer alone. Similar to Doctor Pop now, he felt a tingling sensation in his back even though the air conditioner was on at the right temperature. One side of him wanted to turn around and look. However, another side forbade it as if there was a warning signal ringing in his brain. Still, the corners of his eyes lingered uncontrollably. There was, in fact, a black shadow that looked like a pregnant woman, standing behind Doctor Pop!

“You killed me… you killed my child… you needed to die!”

Someone's faint voice echoed through the air vents causing the young doctor to look up. If he wasn't mistaken...he saw someone's red eyes staring down at him out of hatred. The young man jumped from the chair, and his hand slipped out, resulting in a shattered coffee cup on the floor.

The air vent cover gradually opened up, revealing the appearance of something that should not be called a 'living being' jumping from the ceiling. She descended to the floor and stood in front of Doctor Pop, who was glued to the spot with his eyes out on stalks...

It was your turn, Doctor Pop!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Doctor Aun stormed breathlessly into the internal medicine ward. The young man's expression gained the attention of seated patients around there out of curiosity. However, the doctor didn't have a heart to mind as he rushed to the counter in front of the ward. The two nurses were busy preparing their patient profiles according to the queue. Therefore, everything would be ready when it was time for a check-up.

“Excuse me…Pop…Oh! ...I meant Doctor Pop. Is he in the ward?”

“Oh, Doctor Pop has just gone to the doctor’s lounge a while ago, Doctor Aun. I'll call and inform him for you.” One of the nurses stopped working on her task to talk with Doctor Aun. The young man nodded and waited for the nurse to call his friend. After a moment, she hung up and redialed the number. Her neat eyebrows furrowed before she raised her head to speak to the doctor who stood flustered before her.

“Hmm...the line was quiet, doctor. I doubt there is a problem with the internal call system again. I will go and call Doctor Pop for you right now."

“No need, I will go to Doctor Pop myself. Thank you very much.” The doctor bowed his head slightly as a thank you. He then wandered through the nooks and crannies of the patient's chair towards one side of the ward. Another electric glass door blocked the entrance to the doctor's lounge. Usually, the sensor door would open immediately as soon as someone went near. But strangely, it was entirely closed this time. Doctor Aun took a step back and walked in again. However, the door wouldn't budge.

It wasn't long before he turned to ask the nurse about the problem. Doctor Aun's gaze suddenly caught sight of someone dragging the blood pressure monitor in the other direction. The young man immediately recognized that it was the ghost named Petch. The smile that the ghost gave to the doctor before disappearing into the doctor’s lounge seemed so happy...happy to take someone else's life!
