"Is this what it feels like to cast spells as a legendary mage?" Muria held up the Final Staff, a look of surprise on his face as power continuously surged from within him, funneling into the staff in his hand and sustaining a multicolored spiritual light barrier that shielded the human city behind him from all the monsters' elemental attacks.
Muria had gained control of a demi-plane from Hainar, the Tower Spirit of the legendary mage and elemental master. This was an intangible yet very real authority.
With this authority, one could receive the blessing of demi-plane power, which is one of the reasons why legendary mages are so powerful. A mage who owns a demi-plane need not worry about the amount of mana within their body; they can cast spells to their heart's content.
Of course, nearly unlimited mana is just one aspect of the power of a legendary mage. What truly defines a legendary mage is their wisdom—the ability to create specific spells tailored against their foes.
The authority over a demi-plane, controlled wholly by oneself without the aid of any external objects, is something only legends possess, requiring a strong soul and even more profound essences.
Below the legendary status, to use and control a demi-plane, one must rely on external objects, such as embedding this authority in weapons to gain the demi-plane's blessing through them. However, this method is far inferior to Muria's direct integration and control.
Although Muria's current strength is only at the second-tier peak of the Soul Intent level, which is still a bit away from being legendary, his soul's essence is comparable to or even surpasses that of a legend, qualifying him to merge with and carry the authority of a demi-plane.
The nearly limitless power allowed Muria to maintain a barrier of such vast range and strength that it blocked all attacks. After blocking all assaults, Muria did not retaliate against the group of ferocious birds and monsters before him.
He is not a human, and although his past life and Golden Dragon lineage make him somewhat biased towards humans in certain judgments, he has not forgotten that he is a non-human entity. He cannot simply take sides with humans without question.
"Descendants of the Phoenix, why attack the human city?" Muria asked in fluent Phoenix language, addressing the two magnificent birds before him.
These were two birds with Phoenix lineage, though their lineage was not pure, only a lower-order subspecies compared to the Phoenix in the land of Titans.
"None of your concern, step aside!" The two birds eyed Muria with some wariness, recognizing that he was not human.
"State your reason for attacking humans, descendants of the Phoenix." Muria released his Dragon's Majesty, a vast golden aura emanating from him, exuding a high and mighty presence that enveloped everything within his gaze.
"Roar!" "Howl!"... Everyone on the city walls, humans and monsters alike, stiffened under the sweep of Muria's unique Dragon's Majesty, then involuntarily knelt or prostrated. It was not their wish, but their bodies' instinct, unable to resist the pressure of one of the highest bloodlines in the world.
"Golden Dragon?" Under Muria's Dragon's Majesty, the two ferocious birds also stiffened momentarily but soon recovered, unlike the gold-level monsters behind them that lost their ability to fly and fell to the ground, trembling.
"Now, will you tell me? Descendants of the Phoenix." Muria asked, smiling after demonstrating his power.
The two Phoenix descendants fell silent. The moment they saw Muria reveal his Dragon's Majesty, they knew they could not act against the human city behind him without convincing Muria.
"Respected Golden Dragon, my unborn children have been stolen by a group of dirty, despicable, shameful human thieves hiding in the city behind you."
"I see." Muria's brows furrowed. He had intercepted the Phoenix descendants and inquired about their reasons for attacking the city because he knew there must be a cause.
Normally, gold-level beings possess intelligence comparable to humans, let alone these two birds with Phoenix bloodlines.
Such intelligent beings would not attack a human city without reason; it would bring them little benefit. They were not like the Nine-Tailed Evil Dragon that could devour souls.
"Exalted Golden Dragon, would you step aside and let us retrieve our stolen offspring?"
"Of course, I will not shield them. Those who steal the offspring of others should descend into hell and suffer the devil's lashes for a thousand years," Muria stated firmly, his tone chillingly cold.
"But," Muria changed his tone, "the theft of your offspring was likely committed by a few humans. The vast majority of people in this city are innocent; they should not bear the brunt of your wrath."
"Golden Dragon, you still wish to protect the humans."
"No, I will not shield the guilty. May I have some time? Let me find your lost offspring and root out the culprits who stole them to give you a satisfactory resolution."
"Agreed." The pair of Phoenix subspecies exchanged glances and communicated telepathically before agreeing to Muria's request. Without Muria's intervention, they were prepared to slaughter all the humans in the city to vent their anger, but clearly, that was no longer possible.
"Give me one of your feathers."
...Having obtained two splendidly colorful feathers, Muria turned around, his expression impassive as he gazed down at the humans below, his golden eyes cold. He extended his hand, and the two feathers, imbued with a bloodline tracing spell, transformed into a beautiful ribbon of light that flew into the city, which had nearly been razed.
Seeing the light ribbon drift into a grand building labeled "Adventurers' Guild," Muria disregarded the inscription, lifted the roof of the building with one hand, and extracted two giant eggs enveloped in flames, along with seven humans.
"So, it's you, the thieves who brought calamity upon this city," Muria said, his eyes cold as he looked at the seven humans, his intent to kill boiling within him.
Above the city walls, hearing Muria's words in the common tongue, a wave of shock followed by a flurry of curses broke out...
