Mysterious Special Force

Thanks to Salana's warning, he could see that the vehicle is coming towards them.

It seems obvious that the two don't have much time to flee the scene, and if both of them got caught then they would easily become the suspect of this bloodbath. Being arrested would be quite a predicament if that were to happen.

On top of that, the street the two are on is a straight and open one.

Scanning the entire place with their eyes, Blake and Maura couldn't find any cover that they could use to hide. Both of them are completely exposed, and if the vehicle arrived, the people inside would be able to see them instantly.

Maura who was also searching suddenly darted her eyes to the end of the street.

A distant sound of an engine and screeching tire can be heard, the vehicle is already nearing if even she can hear its engine, "This is bad, I don't see any cover for us. Should we try to run back to the nightclub?" She suggested.

Blake glanced at her before he quickly shakes his head, it's impossible to do that.

Even though Maura is putting on a tough front, she's clearly in pain right now, her legs were already trembling visibly. It was clear to Blake that she wouldn't be able to keep up, and carrying her would only slow him down.

"I'll distract them, you go on ahead. It's better for me to be caught than you" Maura said.

Upon hearing this, Blake frowns deeply.

It was obvious that Maura is saying this because she knows that she was a burden right now, and if she was caught, it's better because at the very least she was a normal human while Blake is a non-human.

From Maura's view, this is the most rational plan for this situation.

Although Blake couldn't argue that it's a good plan, he doesn't want to do that because it's going to be a pain for him to search for another person like Maura that could help him as well as accepting the fact that he's not a human.

Scanning the street once again, he then raises his gaze to look at the buildings.

Blake ponders for a second with his eyes fixed on the sky bridge connecting the two buildings across each other that doesn't seem to be that high, it's probably about seven to ten meters high.

'I think I'm able to reach it with the help of the Shadowblood...'

Nodding to himself, he decided that it was the best he could do right now to avoid prying eyes.

Maura walk past him intending to distract the vehicle that was about to arrive. But out of nowhere, Blake's arm suddenly wrapped around his waist before she was suddenly pulled away strongly.

Just before she realized it, the two were already standing right on top of a parked car.

"What are you doing? I'm only going to slow you down"

"Shut up, don't order me around. You're my blood bag, I'm not leaving you behind"

Upon saying that, Blake then squatted as the muscles in his legs bulged.

Realizing that Blake was about to jump somewhere, Maura frowns before she looks up and finds the sky bridge above them. It should be impossible, nobody could jump that high especially while carrying a person.

It was then, Maura was surprised when she felt the wind rushing against her body.

Clank!

Garnering the Shadowblood into his legs and enhancing his strength temporarily, the roof of the car curved in as Blake leaped with all his might with Maura on his shoulder. It was surreal, but Maura could see the ground is going further away.

Blake reaches out his hand while also imbuing his fingertips with Shadowblood like earlier.

'Come on! Reach it! Reach it!'

Frowning as the momentum started to slow down, Blake could only hope as if he fell right now, then he would need to confront the people coming here. But thankfully, the tip of his fingers reached the sky bridge' walls.

In an instant, he tries to grip the walls with his strengthened hands.

Under his immense inhuman strength, his fingertips dug into the wall and caught the two of them. Both of them are now dangling. Maura looks back and finds Blake's hand gripping the wall and holding the two of them.

Veins could be seen bulging in his arm, this kind of feat is definitely impossible for a human.

'Oh my god... he actually managed to do it. He's so strong'

It was surprising that Blake managed to reach the sky bridge, but the work is not done yet. The people inside the approaching vehicle would be able to see them dangling like this, so Blake needs to climb up to the roof of the sky bridge.

"Hold on to me tightly, I'm going to start climbing" Blake instructed strugglingly.

Since he was injured from the fight severely and doesn't have enough time to drink the blood, this is a struggle for him. If it was him before fighting the Vampires, then he would be able to do this easily.

But he's in a bad state, losing focus for even a second will be bad for him.

Gritting his teeth strongly, Blake started climbing the walls with two hands like a spider, slowly making his way to the roof of the sky bridge. In the process, he coughs blood a couple of times due to the strain his body is feeling right now.

While he was climbing, Maura could see a black van arriving at the place they were before.

Maura kept her eyes on the black van as the people inside it came out.

A group of six people came out tactfully and quickly secured the place, their movements and coordination were that of an expert, even better than most if not all of the mercenaries Maura knew in her previous organization.

It was obvious that this group of six people was more than properly trained.

Covering her mouth to muffle her moans from Blake's body moving and hitting her injuries, Maura squinted her eyes as the gear this group of six people are wearing is even better than military-grade equipment.

Each of the six people is wearing some sort of black combat armor and has a gun.

None of them has their skin exposed, the combat armor covered their bodies completely before being layered by steel vests. Judging from their outfit, they seemed to be from a secretive special force unit.

A couple of things that stand out are their helmets and also the emblem on their shoulders.

Maura noticed despite the distance between them that the helmets are shaped like frowning skulls, and the eye sockets of the helmets seem to be flickering with moving red holograms which indicates that the helmets were high-tech gadgets.

Despite her experiences in the field of mercenaries, she has never seen that kind of gadget.

In addition, the emblem on their shoulders was red and shaped like the side face of a wolf with a sword penetrating down through its head. Surely, this emblem represents the organization behind them.

"Secure the block, and make sure no one is going to traverse here"

"Yes, Sir"

Under the command of a particular man with the only white helmet, the others spread.

Out of the six people, four of them quickly did as they were told while one stayed behind. Maura was also surprised to find that the four that split into two groups and went in the opposite direction were very fast.

It wouldn't be a stretch to say that their speed is also inhumanly fast.

'Are they robots...? No, I don't think so, their movements are too smooth to be a robot. But then, how can they move that fast? Is it because of their combat armors...?' Maura thought in disbelief, the world she knew started to become foreign to her.

Not only were there monsters, but there are also this group of special force units.

"Seems like there's a fight here, the spike in energy level should be because of that. What do you think, Captain? Is it the Ghouls that did this? Both of them should be at peace now, but who knows what these monsters are thinking"

"I don't think so, a clean decapitation is not a Ghoul's way of killing. Must be something else"

"But the city doesn't have anything other than those two families"

"I know, but this might be a new player coming into the city. One person did this. Both of the families wouldn't do something reckless like this, fighting in an open space like his is too reckless. If I had to guess, then they underestimated this person and now this was what left"

Pausing for a second, the other man then walks away and lets the captain investigate.

While the captain of the team was inspecting the dead Vampires that were killed by Blake, the man that stayed behind scans his eyes around. But then, his eyes landed on a trail of blood on the ground.

At the sight of this, Maura quickly taps on Blake a couple of times.

"What is it?"

"F- Faster! Go faster!"

Upon hearing this, Blake didn't question her further and instead climbs even faster than before. It was clear that Maura saw something worrying, her voice depicted that to him clearly right now.

On the other hand, the special force man followed the trail of blood silently.

Stopping beside a parked car, the man gazes up and saw that the roof of the car was slightly caved in. And this alone makes Maura's eyes widen, if the man gazes up then the two would instantly be spotted.

Now that these people seem to be very powerful, being caught is not an option.

Aside from the fact that these special force team has advanced guns with them, their physical abilities also surpassed human capabilities. One dash covers more than five meters, and that alone speaks volumes.

In the trance of the moment, Maura could feel her heart beating faster.

Blake who could also feel her heartbeat started to climb even faster, he couldn't look down but he knows that the people don't seem to be passersby. It seems they deliberately came here for the Vampires.

'Fuck it, I'll put everything in this one last jump!'

Realizing that he has no time left, he decided to garner his last strength for one last leap.

Strengthening his body with the Shadowblood inside of him again, Blake jumped and reaches out his hand at the rooftop of the sky bridge. It was right at the same time as the man gazes up to the sky bridge.

Grabbing the edge of the rooftop, he then pulls up and crashes on the roof.

Maura and Blake crash onto the roof of the sky bridge and takes cover, the man looks up and stares at the sky bridge for a few seconds, "Hmm...? I'm pretty sure this person jumped somewhere, but where?"

"Or is it a collateral of the fight? Maybe..." he added before averting his gaze away.
