To Become Friends

Grandma Pei wished that Bei Sangyun was indeed smart and lively as Mrs. Bang said.

The young master was not the same as the normal children of his age. With the young master's intelligence and maturity, it would be hard to find a playmate who could keep up with him.

If the young master grew up with someone whom he could get along with, he would be less lonely.

But in this small village in the unknown countryside, could she find a child who was mature and smart as the young master? It was less likely. The young master was peerless in the Capital, much more here.

Grandma Pei just hoped that the little girl was more mature than her age and a bit smarter than others. Then perhaps she could get along with the young master and they could become friends.

....

When Bei Sangyun arrived, her anxious mood about the broken plate and the angry young master dissipated when she saw the colorful balloons and the pastries on the table.

She wanted to dive into the pastries immediately.

"Bei Sangyun, come play with us!" The children playing hide and seek saw her and immediately invited her over.

"Later~" Bei Sangyun said as she eyed the pastries.

"Bei Sangyun, look! This is amazing! When we press the buttons the blocks will move! But we all lost. Do you know how to play this?"

Bei Sangyun glanced at the game console and her eyes lit up. "What is this?"

Another child took the game console. "It's my turn now! You have to wait!"

"You lost three times already. Let Bei Sangyun play! She is smarter than you."

The other children also agreed to let Bei Sangyun try. After all, they don't know how to play it and just tried different buttons but they still lost in the end.

Bei Sangyun's image in these children was good. Bei Sangyun might be thin and smaller than them, however, every time they played with her, she always won. She rarely lost. And whenever there was a dispute, Bei Sangyun would solve the issue immediately.

Whenever they were with Bei Sangyun, the adult rarely nagged them. So for these children, Bei Sangyun was smart which every adult in the village liked.

Bei Sangyun got the game console that the children handed to her. The children surrounded her from both sides and watched the screen eagerly.

Bei Sangyun also did not know how to use it. But after trying two times, she got the gist of it. She taught them what she learned from her experience.

"I think this button is to change the position of the block. This one is to drop them down while this one is to move the block either left or right. This side showed which block will appear next."

Bei Sanyun spoke in a clear voice. The children could not help but be impressed. They played so many rounds yet they did not understand the buttons or the rules like Bei Sangyun.

So it was like that....

"You have to fit them like pieces of puzzles. When the lines are completely filled in, this row will disappear. It means you are doing it right. But when all blocks did not fit any line and have piled up until the screen is full, you will lose."

"Oh...." The children exclaimed in understanding.

They watched as Bei Sangyun skillfully filled in row after row of blocks until the game played a music that indicate that she won. The children cheered.

Grandma Pei was watching from the side since Bei Sangyun appeared. She did not interrupt because she wanted to see how this child would interact with other children.

But seeing the way the children looked up to her and watching her figure out the rules of the game in just a few rounds, made Grandma Pei excited.

It seemed that this child was not only sensible but very smart as well!

Perhaps, with her intellect and sensible attitude, the young master might be satisfied with her and they might become great friends.

After all, birds with the same feather flock together.

"Bei Sangyun..." Grandma Pei called out Bei Sangyun gently.

Bei Sangyun looked up and saw Grandma Pei. The nervousness that had just disappeared returned.

She passed the game console to the other children and greeted Grandma Pei guiltily.

"Grandma Pei....about the plate, my grandma and I will pay for it." Then she took the coin purse and raised it to Grandma Pei with her little two hands.

Grandma Pei's heart turned soft. Not only the little girl was smart and sensible, she was also educated well.

She held her small little hands and returned the coin purse back to her. "The plate doesn't cost much. You don't need to pay for it. Young Master misunderstood you last time. He wanted to invite you to play so he can apologize."

Bei Sangyun was startled. Then she immediately shook her head. She did not want to meet the scary young master.

Grandma Pei crouched down to meet Bei Sangyun's height, "Young master wanted to apologize personally and cleared up this misunderstanding. He seemed aloof but he has a very kind heart. Once you get to know him, you will like him. You two might become good friends."

Grandma Pei was really looking forward to the two children becoming friends.

With Grandma Pei's encouragement and kind eyes, Bei Sangyun finally agreed.

Because she was too nervous last time due to the broken plate, she did not get to talk much with the young master. All she could remember was the young master's intimidating eyes. He was scarier than most adults.

The young master accused her and yelled at her to get out. So Bei Sangyun's impression of him was bad.

However, even though she felt indignant about it, she also could not help but be swayed and believe Grandma Pei's words. Perhaps, the young master was not bad at all and when their misunderstandings cleared up, they might become friends.

It would be a lie to say that Bei Sangyun was not looking forward to gaining a new friend.
