Intensive training for the competition had now begun. Surprisingly, everyone on the team took the practice and training seriously. Their ability to play their particular positions was improved as well as their effectiveness and ability to play.
Rio was currently improving even more in basketball. He would train continuously, even after everyone had left the court. He was getting better and better, and some people even started to call him a professional.
Now, the main basketball competition was not more than a month away. The Rose Hills Orphanage basketball team was currently wrapping up their training.
Mr. Johnson decided to do something for the team because he was extremely pleased with the training's outcome.
The group was training on the basketball court, they were mostly doing passing and getting to assist with further developing their strategy in passing and further developing their feeling of unity and harmony.
Mr. Johnson walked into the court, and in the flash of an eye, Mr. Johnson walked in the court and intercepted the throw of the ball from Richard to Willams, halting all practice immediately. The players began to look at each other in an attempt to decipher what Mr. Johnson was trying to say after he gave them an uncanny look and said, "You guys have been working hard and I think you deserve a treat."
"I know you might be confused," he said again. However, for dinner today, we are all going to McDonald's. The entire team began to scream in excitement right away. They were taken aback when they decided to eat outside the orphanage.
There was no doubt that the orphanage would sponsor the meal, but Mr. Johnson ultimately paid for everything. He then asked them to get into his car in an orderly manner.
They finally made it to McDonald's and they got to their seats. Every one of them was individually asked what they wanted. Additionally, they all received distinct items.
Richard and Mich each got the double cheeseburger, and Williams and Jake tried the premium salad but decided to get the Chicken McNuggets. Rio got baked apple pie. Charles and Lucas liked the Egg McMuffin. Martinis shared a happy meal with Noah. Jimmy, Oliver, and Brayan each got two snack wraps, Raymond and Tony got French fries and Patrick was okay with one big mac.
They all ate and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Mr. Johnson then abruptly stated, "I hope you guys know we would still need a captain for this team."
As soon as he said this, everyone turned to face him.
"The nomination and approval of the captain of this team would be done by everyone in it, and as usual, majority rule would prevail," he said as he stood up.
For a long time, everyone started mumbling to each other, but eventually, it stopped and they were just looking at each other. "Who is it going to be?" asked Mr. Johnson as he looked at them.
Since no one wanted to make a decision, Mr. Johnson chose three special people himself. They were; Rio, Jake, and Mich After that, Mr. Johnson asked everyone else to vote. Because three of them played important positions on the court and were good players, making the choice was difficult and confusing. Now that he was losing patience, Mr. Johnson issued an order. After reaching an agreement, the players shouted "Rio" in unison.
Immediately his heart skipped a beat as his name was called. Everyone clapped when he was asked to stand. He looked around and saw that everyone, including Jake, was pleased with the decision. He had a serious sense of Felicity as a result of this. He felt like basketball was his home. He stood steadfastly and resisted crying when his eyes began to well up with tears.
Rio began to smile when Mr. Johnson stood up and announced, "It is done, Rio you are our new captain." Everyone clapped once more. After finishing their meal, they returned to the orphanage.to keep on preparing for the competition
