59. The soiree. Part 2

"Would you like some punch?" Elliot asked the imposter as they sat alone at the table. 

"That's one of the things you have to do at a dance like this, right?" she said and smiled.

Watching Sheree's face look so pleased was torture for Elliot when he knew it wasn't actually her. He plastered on his most genuine looking false smile and played his role, though. 

"Yeah, it's in the formal dance handbook for dudes," he said. He drummed his fingers on his thighs under the table as he spoke. 

"Well in that case, I will take one, thank you," she said and a big smile spread across her face.

The fact that she believed this act told Elliot that she really was an imposter. He had clung to a faint spark of hope that he was wrong about her, but Sheree would never fall for this act. She would've known something was off immediately.

"Okay, I'll be right back with your order," Elliot said and got up from the table.
