Dreadful system

Roland woke up feeling energetic as hell. The progress bar on the screen prompt was the result of his hard work.

'Three days left, and still no word.' Roland looked towards the coner. His hopes weren't that high in regards to being rescued.

Roland got up and did some light workouts in the dark.

On Cue, the guard came and gave him his meal. He ate and the guard left.

'Today I'll be able to boot up the system.' Roland rubbed his hands in excitement.

He waited and waited for the guard to come and pick him up but hours went on without the door being opened.

'What's happening outside, why is the guard taking so long.'

"That wall is obviously important to these people, otherwise why would they stretch out their necks to help me yesterday. Something must be happening that's preventing them from coming-" Roland began to analyse the situation but the door suddenly opened while he was thinking.

"Let's go." By the time the guard said those words, he had already grabbed Roland and had left the room.

Some time went by and they appeared again in front of the wall.

"Carry on with the job, I'll bring the food" the guard dropped Roland and didn't even stay for a minute.

Roland also didn't wast time, he ran towards the wall and touched it. As Roland walked towards the wall, he noticed multiple footprints of different sizes, on the 'black sand'.

'Guess that's Why, I wonder who they were.'

[Pure Fabric substance was found. Do you want to absorb and boot up the chaos system?]

The prompt rang and Roland accepted....

The prompt continuously rang, the black sand fell on the ground as Roland ran his hands on the wall.

'This is taking longer then expected.' Roland shrugged his shoulders. The same notification was still playing.

The progress bar on the system would take longer and longer to get to the next number, but it never took longer then ten minutes to get to the next number.

'I bet it requires some extra energy for the last bit, yeah that's the case.' Roland cheered himself up.

_Thirty minutes later_

At this time the guard returned and placed some food behind Roland but he didn't care about that. He was frustrated by the voice in his head.

....

'What the hell is happening? It should at least be done by now!' Roland grabbed his hair. For the first time he was getting annoyed by the continuous ringing of the voice.

_One hour later_

'What is happening?' Roland finally let go of the wall in frustration. The black sand stopped falling and Roland took a step back.

'Why show me a false progress bar when you could have just shown me the real deal!' Roland scratches his head in frustration.

He told himself that if he ever meet the designer of the system, he would beat them up. Presuming that his stronger then them that is.

'Could there be a problem with the system?' Roland started to wonder, he sat down and started to eat the meal, while trying to figure out a solution to his problem.

Time slowly passed and Roland couldn't think of a clue, much less solutions to his problem.

Everything was happening the way it should, his arms were getting sore from absorbing the wall, the black sand was appearing like it normally does.

The only problem was the system being none responsive.

'No, I've come to far, I need to boot the system and get my golden finger. If not my alternative solution is death.' Roland's eye's became focused as he got up.

He placed his hands on the wall and continued his absorption.

The black sand continuously fell on the ground, as Roland took a step forward, time slowly passed.

_Two hours later_

Roland stopped and sat on the ground. He was covered in sweat and was panting.

Roland heard the voice of the system rang in his head even when he wasn't touching the wall, this was obviously an illusion in his head. He felt like he was being played with.

'What's the fuck!!?' Roland clutched his fists so hard that he felt his nails digging into his skin.

That 00.01% seemed to be mocking him, which irritated him.

*Sigh*

'Have I reached a dead end, Maybe I need to clear my head.' Roland's body relaxed as he took a deep sigh.

He sat down and began to eat his meal. He didn't think much of the situation. There was a saying that went, "Whenever you feel like you can't find a solution, take a step back." This was often said to mathematicians when they were stuck on an equation. Roland had been obsessed with the progression bar of the system, not only that he'd been stressed too.

'I need to distress.' Roland thought as he looked at the cave entrance, he had a crazy thought in his mind.

'Why not, now is as good of a time as any.' Roland thought as he got up and left the cave.

He didn't care much about the progression of the wall, all he cared about was booting the system and escaping, and since that wasn't happening he decided to try and explore the place or find a way out.

'If I find master or the lions, things might get easier.' Roland cheered himself up.

He left the cave and appeared in a large tunnel that stretched out upwards. The tunnel path, was slippery and steep, making it hard to climb.

Roland used the walls to climb up and slowly, he reached the top, where light was coming in from. Roland got to the entrance and luckily there wasn't any guards.

The sun was hanging directly above the sky, the heat it emitted made it difficult for a person to look directly at it.

Roland looked around, the area around him was filled with mountains. Grey, rocky mountains were everywhere. Roland noticed that some mountains had openings carved into them.

"Dude your here too?"

Roland suddenly heard a voice and quickly hid back in the cave, he saw two guards heading his way.

"Bro, Your here too?" Guard number one said.

"Dude, I thought everyone was sent to the perimeters to fend of the monsters." Guard number two said.

"Yeah, well I'm not suicidal, I was able to convince the commander to let me stay here." Guard number one responded.

"Hahaha dude me too!" Guard number two said as they walked away.

The two guards walked off to some distance, seemingly patrolling.
