Tommy was quiet as he just stared at me, he knew as much as I did that I couldn't have them both. Not to mention there was still Sofia, whom I had the responsibility of taking care of and I had promised to marry her. I never loved her but I had thought I could marry her since I was never interested in this love shit but now that I was in love with Melissa I didn't even want to imagine marrying Sofia. Imagining Lisa with another guy was painful enough.
" What do I do bro? " I asked quietly. But since there was no answer to that we just ended up sitting quietly without saying a word. It was awkward silence though since I was naturally quiet and liked decorum.
I hated to admit how right he was, Tommy was a lot wiser than I gave him credit for. If and only if I had just listened to him I wouldn't be caught up in this mess but then I wouldn't have met Melissa and I don't regret meeting her.
I looked up to see Tommy lost in thought, he seemed so deep in thought which was unlike him.
" Bro, ain't I the one with the problem? Why are you so lost in thought? " As much as I complained about him always being nosy and that he disturbed me a lot I liked it. He was the only person I could be myself around, he was the only that ever got to see me laugh or even smile. Out there I was either Xavier Scott the domineering young CEO or the Fearful Asher Kelvin and both men never smile.
" It's nothing bro, Was just thinking about how to plan the dinner we are gonna have with Lis's friends." He said with a wave of his hand.
I sighed loudly and went to grab the gamepad from the table.
" Am going to Lisa's coffee shop " He stood happily as he went to grab his jacket.
" Dude! Ain't you supposed to be supportive right now? Are you enjoying my misery? " I knew the answer even before I asked, he wasn't though he would say he was.
" Of course I am, you'll learn to listen to me after this, " He said as he happily walked to the door.
" Common dude " I tried but he only chuckled, that was so Tommy.
" There's no limit to your cruelty. " I commented as I lay on the couch. Tommy laughed a little" You've started talking more since you met your way" I opened my eyes and gave him a dirty look.
" Okay, how about we go together " He suggested.
" You know she doesn't want to see me, she avoids me like the plague."
" I would too if I were her " It wasn't that Tommy didn't know how to be comforting but he just didn't want to.
" Whatever " I closed my eyes and turned away from him pretending I was going to sleep. I waited for him to open the door and leave but he didn't. I opened my eyes again and found him standing with his hand crossed around his chest.
" What? " I asked but he just smiled
" Let's go to the coffee shop together, and you're gonna go as Xavier" he answered cheerfully. I just stared at him like he had lost it.
" What? Do you want me to go to her as Xavier? Expose my identity? " I was sitting up now and staring at Tommy like I was finding it hard to believe it was Tommy saying those words to me.
" Don't overthink it, am just saying let's go as friends " He tried.
" Are we enemies? " I folded my hand across my chest.
" You wanna keep making things difficult? Alright suit yourself " He opened the door and walked out.
' Should I go? I want to see her ' I was conflicted, something that never happened before that was now becoming a frequent thing since I met Melissa. Did falling in love make one stupid?
" Damn it " I stood up, grabbed my Jacket and rushed to meet Tommy. I rushed out and met him about to enter his car.
" Oh, you changed your mind. Let's race " He entered the car before I could give him a reply but not before I noticed his lips curve into a satisfied smile, I sighed but couldn't hold back my smile.
I entered my car and soon drove past Tommy, he honked and I waved my hand.
' Of all the days it had to be today that I was driving this car ' I knew she loved cars and I wished I was driving something better, I wanted to impress her so much.
We got to her coffee shop half an hour later, the moment I parked the car I found my heart beating faster and images of how I almost kissed her filled my mind.
" Come on Xavier Scott, if you can't hold it together when you haven't even seen her then How do you want to act when you see her " I murmured running a hand through my hair. Tommy waved at me after waiting for me to come out of the car and I made no effort to do so. I pulled my thoughts together and got out of the car before shutting the door.
" Why did I even listen to you? " I murmured as I walked beside him.
" Because you're seeing the consequences of not listening to me. " He said cheerfully before pushing the door open, he scanned the room and picked a spot close to the window. It happened to be the same spot I sat the last time I was there.
" Hello, you're welcome to our coffee shop sir. What do I get for you? We have..... " A young girl came as we took our sits, she was looking at the menu while speaking but held a pleasant smile, it must have been from the nature of her job after all you have to smile for your customers in order not to seem rude. The moment she looked up she gasped.
' Did she recognise us? ' I thought as I glanced at Tommy quickly.
" Is Melissa back? " He asked her instead.
" Not... yet sir " She seemed confused" but she should be back soon" She continued.
" Okay, Can we rent the whole place while we are here? My brother hates crowds you see. " He spoke gently, The truth was that he trying to avoid people recognising them and attracting the paparazzi but he wasn't lying about me hating crowded places.
" But... am not sure Melissa will approve. " She seemed confused but Tommy wasn't ready to give up.
" Melissa and I are friends, am sure she wouldn't mind. Just tell me how much it will cost. " Tommy persisted.
" Hmmm... am not sure, I should give Melissa a call just in case." She brought out her phone from her pocket to call Lisa but was interrupted by Tommy.
" 5 million dollars for rent, am not sure we'll stay for more than an hour " Tommy offered.
" That.. that.." She stammered.
" Not enough? 10 million then. " He e went jn before the girl could even complete her statement.
" Hmmm... Okay," She said after giving it a quick thought.
" That's good, I knew you were a smart kid. " Tommy complimented and she smiled broadly.
" I'll go bring you coffee " She turned happily to go before turning back " Sorry I didn't get your orders."
" That's okay, we'll just wait for Melissa. " Tommy replied with a smile.
