It began when a rose-like smell assaulted his nose. 

Ylana Sapphire and Rowan Garnet are the children of two mafia bosses. To build an alliance between their families, their fathers arrange a marriage between the two.

Rowan is reluctant because he and his family are secretly wolf shifters and Ylana seems to hate both the plan and Rowan for unknown reasons. But all that changes when Rowan discovers that Ylana is his mate.

Now Ylana is left not only navigating the new world of shifters but marriage within the mafia world as well.

Rowan cleared his throat. "You know, we don't have to do anything tonight, or ever, if you don't want. One of the couches has a pull-out bed I can sleep on."

Ylana made her decision right then. "I think we should. That way we can know if we're . . . compatible that way.” She heard Rowan's breath quicken. "If you want."

When Ylana first saw all the rides and booths for the carnival, she didn’t think it would all fit on the property. Amazingly, it all worked thanks to Ginger’s diagram. Ylana was quickly learning how important diagrams were when it came to planning events. 


It was Halloween day, and Ylana and Ginger were doing their final walkthrough of the estate to make sure everything was going according to plan. 


Upon entering the estate, guests had the choice to either go through the haunted house – which took up the entire first floor of the mansion – or go straight to the carnival area. Several ticket booths somewhat guarded the entrance to the carnival where security personnel would also be standing. Beyond the booths, the first things to see were all the rides for the little kids. The rides then slowly became the ones more suitable for older children – most of them involved spinning upside down.
