It began when a rose-like smell assaulted his nose. 

Ylana Sapphire and Rowan Garnet are the children of two mafia bosses. To build an alliance between their families, their fathers arrange a marriage between the two.

Rowan is reluctant because he and his family are secretly wolf shifters and Ylana seems to hate both the plan and Rowan for unknown reasons. But all that changes when Rowan discovers that Ylana is his mate.

Now Ylana is left not only navigating the new world of shifters but marriage within the mafia world as well.

Rowan cleared his throat. "You know, we don't have to do anything tonight, or ever, if you don't want. One of the couches has a pull-out bed I can sleep on."

Ylana made her decision right then. "I think we should. That way we can know if we're . . . compatible that way.” She heard Rowan's breath quicken. "If you want."

Ylana had been feeling out of sorts when Keegan had rushed over to her and Rowan. Meeting people from different packs at the mate ball was making her anxious. It also didn’t help that the man who had just spoken to them made her feel like she was some woman chasing a scandal. But she had forgotten how infectious Keegan’s good mood was. He showed up at the right time.  


“How have you been?” Ylana asked him. “I haven’t seen you since the wedding.”


“You were just too busy being lost in Rowan’s dreamy eyes.” Keegan laughed at his own joke. “I was at the Halloween carnival. Apparently, you’re more entertaining than I am.”


Ylana looked down feeling guilty. “It’s probably my fault. I think I’ve been a bit of a problem lately.”


“It’s not a big deal,” Keegan sounded like it meant it. “I ran into Ginger when I was getting some popcorn. We ended up shifting and running around in the forest most of the night.”
