It began when a rose-like smell assaulted his nose. 

Ylana Sapphire and Rowan Garnet are the children of two mafia bosses. To build an alliance between their families, their fathers arrange a marriage between the two.

Rowan is reluctant because he and his family are secretly wolf shifters and Ylana seems to hate both the plan and Rowan for unknown reasons. But all that changes when Rowan discovers that Ylana is his mate.

Now Ylana is left not only navigating the new world of shifters but marriage within the mafia world as well.

Rowan cleared his throat. "You know, we don't have to do anything tonight, or ever, if you don't want. One of the couches has a pull-out bed I can sleep on."

Ylana made her decision right then. "I think we should. That way we can know if we're . . . compatible that way.” She heard Rowan's breath quicken. "If you want."

Ylana didn’t even get a chance to say hello when she picked up the video call from Indigo the Saturday after Thanksgiving. 


“Dad is so mad at you right now,” Indigo told her in a tone that somehow managed to ooze both amusement and annoyance. 


“What did I do this time?” Ylana hadn’t spoken to Odo since the elevator incident. 


“You and Rowan didn’t come here for Thanksgiving.” Indigo’s face became serious.


Ylana couldn’t believe it. “I explained to him multiple times why we couldn’t make it.” There had simply been not enough time in the day for them to make it over to the Sapphire penthouse. 


Indigo rolled his eyes. “You don’t need to tell me that. I’m the one who reminded him and had to listen to him complain.”


“It’s not like we’ve had a real Thanksgiving since Mom died,” Ylana whispered.
