It began when a rose-like smell assaulted his nose. 

Ylana Sapphire and Rowan Garnet are the children of two mafia bosses. To build an alliance between their families, their fathers arrange a marriage between the two.

Rowan is reluctant because he and his family are secretly wolf shifters and Ylana seems to hate both the plan and Rowan for unknown reasons. But all that changes when Rowan discovers that Ylana is his mate.

Now Ylana is left not only navigating the new world of shifters but marriage within the mafia world as well.

Rowan cleared his throat. "You know, we don't have to do anything tonight, or ever, if you don't want. One of the couches has a pull-out bed I can sleep on."

Ylana made her decision right then. "I think we should. That way we can know if we're . . . compatible that way.” She heard Rowan's breath quicken. "If you want."

The lunch with her father and brother had left Ylana both tired and worried. Odo was demanding he see her and Rowan for Christmas, and Ylana didn’t know if that was possible. She and Ginger were already working on plans for the Christmas events. 


For Christmas Eve, Harkin was scheduled to dress as Santa Claus to hear what the pack’s children wanted for Christmas. On Christmas Day, there was to be a ball, and anyone in the pack may choose to shift – something Ylana couldn’t let Indigo and Odo see. 


Fred, the driver for the Garnet family, dropped Ylana off at the mansion’s front door. Ylana thanked him before heading inside. She trudged up the stairs, not ready to tell Rowan what had gone on at lunch, but he had promised to wait in their suite so he could offer any solace she may need. He knew how badly her father could stress her out.
