Chapter 42: We Might Need Help

*Daisy’s apartment in NYC—9:20 PM*

Daisy and Marco were once again looking at the ceiling, static, melancholic. They hated that feeling. Daisy finally confessed to Marco but somehow managed to ruin the moment. Not that it was her fault, but it was very bad timing. Marco understood that. He wasn’t angry at Daisy or anything, but he was unphased. He knew the twins would still be a bummer for her, so he just agreed with it.

“You know,” Daisy said. “I like that you are trying to get other mafias’ help to find those two, but do you trust them?”

“For the same reasons I ask you,” Marco emphasized. “Did you trust them at the first counterattack, when they killed…”

Marco shut himself. Mentioning Giorgio’s death like that made him uncomfortable. Daisy noticed this and hugged Marco’s arm.

“If it makes you feel better,” she said with a smile. “I trusted them too.”

Marco’s shy smile came back. They both started contemplating existence again.
