Chapter 11: How It Turned Around ( 2 )

As we walked in the building, nothing else flowed into my mind but the thought I had a batch of loaded friends this entire time. I became slack jawed by the sight of the sparkling outside with its gorgeous interior. I couldn't bring myself to touch even a spec of this building.

We walked through the lobby and entered the elevator after Luna checked us in. Lucas reached over and pressed the fortieth floor of the building.

I couldn't help but imagine how their father was. I thought about many scenarios, but all seemed to have ended badly.

As we approached closer and closer to their fathers office floor, my heart couldn't help but race with fear of how it might've gone. I couldn't help but think how fortunate I was about the situation too, but the fact that I could mess up a blessing worried me.

As I heard the ding the elevator doors opened I knew there wasn't a free escape card anymore, so I continued.

Lucus clearly saw the fear in my eyes so he turned and tapped my shoulder.

"It'll be ok, You got a Luna recommendation. You should've been worried if I gave you one"

My heart seemed to calm as we continued walking nearer to the door, after his words.

"Welcome back Mr and Mrs Cole"

His secretary bowed and opened the door giving a full view of their father, as he sat focused, staring at the door as if it was a staged scene.

"Thank you Ralph, you can leave us be"

The secretary nodded his head and slowly closed the doors, giving a haunted house effect to the entire room.

"So you must be Emmanuel, I see you got a recommendation from my sweet daughter. I have but 3 mere questions."

"If you were to give your father and mother in law grandchildren how much would that be?"

"If I had to say now, I'm guessing three, sir"

"Ok what if your wife is sick do you know to cook and care for her"

"Yes I do sir"

"Are you so hardworking you would care for a family so much to the point of death"

"Y-Yes I would sir"

"Last question how fast could you marry my daughter"

"Huh"

"Huh"

Luna's eyes lit up as if someone just threw a blue flame into them, just from standing beside her I could feel the atoms near her accelerate causing heat within the air. I took two steps back as if she was a bomb ready to explode, if only there was a sling shot and pigs around for her to use that power for good.

As she trudged closer to her fathers desk, a long shadow followed her as if she just unlocked powers in this world.

"What are you speaking of father"

"Oh, hehe nothing. Emmanuel, you seem like a good worker, I'll give you the job on my daughter's recommendation. Lucus show him to the office"

As we left the office leaving him to deal with the wraith of Luna the destroyer of worlds, I couldn't help myself from feeling excited and overjoyed. Even though this day started bad it suddenly managed to float back up to the surface.

I was so distracted from victory, I didn't even notice we had already arrived at the offices.

"Your amazing boss is back everyone"

Everyone stared at him as if they knew nothing about what he meant. instead guiding their gazes toward me.

"Who's the man next to you sir"

"Right, this is your new coworker, Mr Wright. Ah, right Stephan show him the ropes"

The man he called out, expression went blank. It was as if he was an introvert and someone tried talking to him at a party.

"Yes sir"

As the both of us walked around, he showed me around the office, while I zoned out, not remembering what he said.

"And that's everything you need to know about the office. Mr Lucas said you will start tomorrow, work hours start at eight. Please don't be late"

I gave him a smile out of pure excitement to finally have something to do, besides interviews. It almost brought a tear to my eye.

"Your name's Stephan right. Thank you for showing me around the office, and being nice, even though you were just asked to"

He looked me in the eye and gave off a smile, I guess I misjudged him.

*

I couldn't wait to start this job, that's all I thought about as I laid in my bed. While I ran through thoughts, I realized it was quite lonely living alone.

I couldn't help but remember her. That smiling face that only seemed to come my way.

"I wonder how Stella's doing"
