Luan goes into the living room to talk to Grandma, while Derick and Grandpa Han wait for Luan to come out so they can iron out a few more details. 

"Okay, Grandpa Luan's gone, and I don't understand why you didn't mention anything that was done in the Ritual that day?" 

"We can't let him know about the details of the Ritual until he has control of the demon in his body, otherwise the same accident could happen as years ago, and we'll lose the chance to conjure the demon once again." 

"I don't feel comfortable hiding something from Luan, we've always been very honest with each other." 

"Yes, I know, Derick, but we're dealing with a very cunning ancient demon, I myself spent 70 years tracking it down and I still haven't managed to conjure it." 

"Just stay by Luan's side, you're the only one who can help him now, his magic if it falls into the wrong hands, could become real chaos, Luan has his oath as a Magician, all magic has its price, so always remember, wherever you go, never leave him alone." 

"I'm aware of that, Grandpa." 

Derick thinks: 

(Crap, I've become Luan's babysitter for good, I avoided him so much at first, but I'm sure of it, there's no turning back now). 

Luan and Derick stay in the living room and talk to their grandfather for a while, they make them eat a lot, while Justin, Derick's father, comes in and asks Luan to talk to him for a moment. 

They go into the kitchen and Justin asks Luan to help him tomorrow after school to go to a car dealership and buy Derick a car as a present because his birthday is on Friday, and as they performed with the band in the square, it would be a good time to give Derick the present, Luan readily makes himself available and is really happy with the idea. 

"Wow, we'll have a car to drive around in." 

Justin adds: 

"Yes, and it will help with your missions from now on, have you received your DSO badges yet, Luan?" 

"Oh, I'm waiting for them to send them to me, but they said they'd had a problem with the issue, because it'll be a different 'special badge' to the usual one, I think we'll be able to start next week." 

Justin then takes them home, Luan is all excited, trying not to make it obvious that he's hiding something from Derick, while Derick stares at Luan, finding him very animated, different from the way he was at school. 

"No, but are your ears sensitive, Luan?" 

"Oh, I'm fine now, it seems to have gone away a bit." 

Luan is writing something in his notebook, while they are in the car heading home, Derick is watching and trying at the same time to read what he is writing, Luan seems quite concentrated at the moment, when Derick pulls the notebook out of Luan's hands and says: 

"Hm, what are you writing...let's see..." 

"Hey, Derick, give it back! I haven't finished yet!" 

Derick reads what Luan has written, and is incredulous at what he reads. 

-Clause 1- Do not appear in my dreams, only when requested. 

-Clause 2- Not to appear when I'm in class, or when I'm watching a basketball game. 

- Clause 3- Never break a bone without my consent. 

-Clause 4- Do not manipulate me and use my magic for your own interests. 

-Clause 5- Do not open a portal without my consent. 

"Luan, honestly that doesn't sound like a contract, nobody in their right mind would accept that!" 

"He'll accept it, it's a simple contract, but there's a catch in one of the clauses, and he'll certainly accept it." 

"Hm, what if he listens to you or even reads your thoughts?" 

"Yes, it might even be possible, as I've only been using blocking magic for a short time I can't control it yet, that's exactly why when I want to hide some of my thoughts, I write them down in my notebook, time for a test!""Test?" 

"Yes, look at my notebook again, can you read it?" 

The words written in his notebook disappear, Derick looks at the notebook again and sees that everything is blank, he flips through it and it looks blank. 

"What? What do you mean, it's all gone!" 

Luan takes his notebook back from Derick and replies: 

"Only the owner can read it Derick, you've missed your only chance! Haha " 

Derick then grumbles, Luan as always enjoying teasing Derick. 

"Blah... it's not funny, we've finally arrived, I'm tired of looking at your face today, bye!" 

Luan gets out of the car, thanks his uncle for the ride and goes up to his house, takes a shower and cuddles Fluffly while sitting in the window of his room, thinking: 

(I definitely hope you show up soon, we have a contract to sign before starting at DSO, it's time to find out what really goes on there!)
