4: Book of Shadows

'THIS, IS, AWESOME '

The Essence floats out of the Dreadweaver.

'Absorb the Essence.' Kei reaches out and brings out his Mana and collects all the Essence at a place and absorbs it through his hands while bringing his Mana.

At first, nothing happens but then a surge of Mana surges throughout his body. Kei falls to the ground panting a lot and grabs his chest. 'What is this sudden surge of Mana? I didn't have this much Mana until now .' But he seizes this opportunity. He closes his eyes and starts to pull the Mana which suddenly came out of nowhere towards his heart. This was very painful for him as he was not ready for this. His heart couldn't hold that much Mana so he had to forcefully break down the wall to Rank C.

Normally hunters do not encounter this problem as the hunter's heart naturally overcomes this barrier slowly. It is like chipping away at a wall but with Mana.

If any hunter forcefully tries to break there is a huge risk that they might die as expanding a chamber in the heart is very painful and if any veins or arteries bursts then the person will die or be in a very serious condition.

But Kei was able to endure through it because of two reasons. First was because of his willpower, his willpower was the only thing that did not let him lose his consciousness and push through the pain. Second was the fact that he was already near to reaching the C-Rank, but still, it took two hours for Kei to break through C-rank and immediately after reaching it he collapsed unconscious.

After a few hours, Kei woke up and immediately vomited. Kei wipes his mouth "What a shitty way to wake up. "

'But I still can't believe that I became a C-Rank. I don't know how but I think the Essence I absorbed from the Dreadweaver was converted into Mana, even though it helped me achieve rank C I would never do it again until I have figured out a proper way to handle it.'

Kei noticed that his body has become considerably lighter and he has gotten a lot stronger. 'People are right, there is always a huge gap between two ranks of hunters .'

Then he started to do a few rounds of punching, kicking and a few dodges. He clenches his hand and says 'It will reduce the symptoms of it and now I will now start earning enough money to treat it .'

Then he walks towards the gate and places his hand on the gate. 'I've extracted and absorbed the Essence.'

"Clang! Thud! Baam!"

Loud noises came from behind the gate, it felt like huge metal pieces were dropping on the ground. Then the gate opens and wind rushes out and hit Kei's face. "COME IN " A booming voice came.

Kei started to walk in. He could understand just from the voice how powerful the source of the voice is.

The interior of the cave looked like it was abandoned for a long time but if it were to have been maintained then it would have looked extraordinary.

It looked like a place where a king and his managers would meet as there was a throne and below it chairs were laid out. Before Kei could ponder on that he noticed a Book on the throne radiating off Mana in quantity and gradually it started to increase to the point was forced to the ground. "You should always pay respect to the king." A voice came which was different from others.

Kei sighed and he started to stand up "Respect is not given but earned ." then he started to walk towards the book "YOU'VE PASSED THE TEST ."

Kei reaches out and touches the book which was there and the moment he touched it something entered his mind.

Within Kei's Subconsciousness

Kei sees a happy kingdom from above and a voice starts to narrate "This is the World Of Elysian ." Kei couldn't believe it, for him, Elysian was a world where everything is in scatters and monsters roaming around. "Indeed there were monsters but not to the extent you imagine. This world was more peaceful and happy before the disaster struck but unfortunately, I can't tell you what happened as you came later than I have wanted ."

"This is the Book of Shadows, you may not know the value of it now but after you realise its value then, for eons you will thank me"

Back in the Real World

Kei opens his mind and his eyes starts to glow and he is lifted off the ground and Mana starts to surround him into the sphere . The Book of Shadows starts to turn into a black liquid and enters into Kei .

Then he drops to the ground and his brain is being filled with the knowledge of the sword and other weapon techniques a man used to use . In his brain a man who looked to be in thirties and had blond hair and blue eyes with a handsome face and clean face started to perform different forms of techniques. All the moves were so perfect as they didn't waste any energy .

Kei also saw some glimpses . In the first glimpse he saw a man whose head was covered in a priest uniform walking towards a podium . Second glimpse showed him two people fighting each other but the glimpse was cut short as the third glimpse showed Kei saw something that he couldn't comprehend at the moment.

The moment the surge of knowledge ended , he noticed that a portal was infront of him . He enters it and exits in front of the Mother of Dreadweaver who was recovered and all the remaining Dreadweavers, Luminari Weaveants were present there . Kei entered in a state of daze and he raised his hand and the black liquid started to surround him which then into a tens of thousand spikes .

"BE GONE " and as the words were said all the spikes were launched towards the monsters and they were all stabbed to death
