CHAPTER 37

Alina cleared her throat as she noticed people passing by were beginning to stare.

"They're so sweet.. I want to get married too" Some of the employees gossiped as they passed by.

"You're too close" Alina said almost in a whisper.

"Isn't this what you wanted? We should be this sweet if you want them to believe don't you think" Nolan said coldly and Alina moved away.

"Who was that on the phone? Did you just call her babe?" Alina asked with a frown.

"Why? Were you jealous, I called someone else babe? Why does it even matter to you?" Nolan asked sarcastically and Alina scoffed.

"She's probably very ugly or bad mannered and that's why you call her babe. And don't you have a little bit of conscience? We only got divorced last week and you've got yourself a new girlfriend already" Alina fired and Nolan placed his hands on his waist.

"Does it hurt you that much to see me with some other girl? Who cares about what you just said right now? You left me and I've got to move on with my life. Shouldn't you be happy for me at least?" Nolan said and his phone started ringing again.

"Excuse me" Nolan said and walked aside before taking the call.

"Mum, why are you calling me again? I was in the middle of something very important" Nolan said almost in a whisper.

"Oh cut the crap son. What did you just call me minutes ago? Did you call me babe? Nolan what were you thinking? What if one of my boyfriends happened to hear you call me that, don't mess with me when you're trying to play around" Nolan's mum said over the phone and he ruffled his hair.

"I'm sorry about that mum but was it necessary for you to call me back just to say that? You could have texted or even waited till I call back. Anyways, I have to go now mum. Bye" Nolan said and hung up.

"I'm in" Alina cut in from behind and Nolan turned around then walked to her.

"I didn't get you"

"You said how about a fresh start together. I'm in but how do you mean exactly?" Alina asked and Nolan smiled.

"You will find out" He said with a mysterious smile and brushed her hair backwards.

Nolan walked away without adding to anything he said.

"Huh! Why's he suddenly acting so mysterious? First he flied down without anyone knowing and now, he wants a fresh start. What fresh start? About what exactly?" Alina uttered obviously confused about the whole scene.

She quickly placed a call across to Aria.

"Ria, are you free right now?" Alina asked over the phone.

"I'm a little choked up with work but is anything the problem? Did something happen Lina?" Aria asked curiously.

"Since, you're busy. Let's talk some other time. It's not that important. I shouldn't meddle with your work, go back to work Ria. Call me when you're done"

"I'm sorry Lina but I promise to call when I'm done with what I'm doing okay" Lina said and hung up.

Since I've got nothing to do now, I should look around. It's been awhile. Alina said in her head and got into the elevator.

She came out to the first floor. All the nurses and doctors are tied up with work.

MATTHEW'S APARTMENT....

Matthew was seated on his couch watching TV when Nolan knocked on his door.

"You finally thought that you have a friend" Matt exclaimed as he got the door.

"You're acting like I never visited or called you before" Nolan said as he went in.

"Fair enough, since you didn't find it necessary to come see me immediately you arrived. Nolan are you sure we're friends?" Matt pouted and Nolan laughed.

"Stop acting cute, it's so unlike you. I still visited right? That's why I'm here now"

"Alright fine, I quit. How was your trip?" Matt asked.

"I flied down immediately I got the idea Alina was coming back as well. What was she thinking? That she could leave me over there and never see my face again"

"You can be quite clingy sometimes. I thought you said you wanted to give her space. You're going back from your words or couldn't you stay away either?" Matt teased.

"Do you have any idea how it feels like to stay away from your beloved family? I've only been away from my son for a few days and it feels like forever. I can't keep up with that for long so I don't think staying away is safe for either of us" Nolan said.

"So what do you plan on doing next?" Matt asked curiously and Nolan stared at space without replying.

A beep came on Matt's cellphone.

He picked up his phone and a serious look appeared on his face.

"Matt what's going on? What's that look on your face?" Nolan asked curiously but Matt's eyes were fixed on his phone.

Nolan snatched the phone from his hand.

"What's this? Matt tell me you don't actually believe this right? You can't believe rumours like this" Nolan said as he dropped the phone on the table and Matt stood up angrily.

"If it was just rumors then tell me exactly what that photo means? Everyone's suspicious of Aria and she keeps bumping into that jerk, what do you expect me to think? It can't always be a coincidence" Matt half yelled and Nolan stood up.

"What's wrong with you Man? How can you be having trust issues when you know so well the type of girl Aria is. Do you actually think she's cheating on you or you wish to listen to the rumors and ruin your relationship? The both of you have been in this relationship for two years now, are you going just allow anyone come in between you two?" Nolan fired.

Matt picked up his phone and placed a call across to his manager.

"Bro, can you please set up a meeting for me with that jerk, I mean James" Matt said over the phone.

"Alright but did you see the scandal about Aria and James?" His manager asked but Matt hung up.

"I can't believe this" Matt exclaimed and sat down.

He dialed Aria's phone number but she wasn't taking up her calls.

"She's not taking my calls either. Is she avoiding me or she's trying to prove everyone's suspicions to be right" Matt yelled and threw his phone away.

"What do you mean everyone? If you're being confused then do that boldly, stop using the rumors as an excuse to be suspicious of her. You're indeed suspicious of her and I'm pretty sure Aria knows of that as well"

"Exactly! If she knows of it then why's she ignoring me in a time like this? What's she thinking?" Matt said seriously and Nolan shook his head.

"You better relax Matt. You know exactly what happens when you start losing each others trust. Don't do this to yourself" Nolan advised and Matt picked up his picked up jacket from the jacket holder.

"Where are you going?" Nolan asked curiously.

"I can't sit here and get upset all by myself. I should go give him the piece of my mind. I will be right back Nolan, please turn off the lights when leaving okay" Matt said and walked out without listening to Nolan's reply.

I'm hard headed but sometimes I think he's way worse. Nolan said in his head as he exhaled sharply.

AG ENTERTAINMENT....

Aria got to the office in disguise because reporters are gathered around the company waiting to get an audience with Aria. She sneaked into the company with a scarf on.

"Aria!" Jimmy called out on seeing her.

"Shhh!" Aria placed her finger on her lips and she dragged him with her.

"Where's the CEO? Is she at her office?" Aria asked and Jimmy nodded.

"She's at her office. Aria, you shouldn't be out here not after your scandal with James is everywhere. What do you want to say to the boss? Aria, please don't stir up any issues here at the office" Jimmy pleaded and Aria shoved him off.

"Stay out of it" Aria said and walked away.

She got to the office and she removed her scarf.

"Miss Kim, what's going on? Why's the article not taken down yet?" Aria asked seriously.

"Aria, you finally came out of meet with me? You only visit when you've caused trouble" Mrs Kim said calmly as she crossed her legs.

"I don't get it, why are you intentionally allowing the scandal to keep spreading?"

"Because it's you Aria. What happened to you Aria? Ever since you got into a relationship with Matt, you've been all cold. That's not the Aria we all know so having a scandal like this will move people's attention to your way aria. Isn't that what you want? Attention!" Miss Kim said and Aria exhaled sharply.

"CEO, what are you saying? Why on earth would I want an attention like that? That would only make things complicated for my relationship with Matt. I got more than enough attention when I announced my relationship with Matthew and I don't need more. So please take down the scandal and I will push through with the conference to clarify the rumors" Aria said coldly.

"Aria, don't tell me you developed feelings for Matt? Tell me you didn't" Mrs Kim asked as she stood up.

"Why would I be in a relationship for this long if I don't have feelings for him? Mrs Kim remember, Matt and I aren't in a contract relationship so I have no idea where you're driving with this. Please take down the article, if you don't want me to do it myself. Don't turn me back into a bad girl"

"Aria, you've gone this far and it's all thanks to the fact that you've always been a bad girl and bad girls are always bad. Creating a scandal about you and James sounds like exactly what a bad girl will do but since we've gotten more than enough attention we want, I will take it down. I shouldn't annoy you because of my greediness" Mrs Kim said with a smile and she picked up the land phone.

"Get reporter Gu on the line. The article should be taken down" Mrs Kim said over the phone.

NOLAN'S APARTMENT.

Later that day....

Alina placed Louis on his eating table as she fed him some apple pancakes.

"How can you be so good at everything my son? You can fed on your own now. I'm proud of you Louis" Alina smiled as she watched him eat on his own and she caressed his hair gently.

The door bell rang.

"Who's here?" Alina uttered.

"I will right back so eat peacefully okay" Alina said and stood up.

She head to the door and opened it but she couldn't find anyone there.

"No one's here" Alina uttered looking around then she was about closing the door when Nolan appeared in front of her.

"Hi!" Nolan said waving at her and Alina walked backwards in shock.

"What are you doing here?" Alina managed to utter.

"What does it look like?" Nolan asked as he brought his luggage in front of him and Alina's heart skipped a beat.

"I'm back home. Should I come in?" Nolan asked and Alina moved aside.

Nolan smirked and he went in with his luggage.

His eyes landed on Louis that was eating by himself.

"Louis!" Nolan called out and Louis raised his face up.

"Daddy!" Louis called out in his cute voice and he stood up from his chair.

"Louis, you still eating. Sit back" Alina said from behind and Louis pouted.

Nolan ran to him and carried him on his arms.

"I've missed you so much boy" Nolan said almost in tears as he pecked Louise's forehead.

Nolan hugged him so tightly.

"You're being emotional" Alina said almost in a whisper.

"Of course, I missed you as well" Nolan said as he glanced at her passionately and Alina stared at him completely mesmerized.
