Chapter 15: One Less Lonely Night

“What?” Jamison said before he could stop himself. “Do you know what you’re asking?”

His eyes went wide and the cool composure he usually held was stripped away by his shock. Never in his life had he been asked something like that so boldly. Most wouldn’t even approach him for fear that they might lose their lives if they said the wrong thing. Yet, Kade didn’t flinch away from him at all. Jamison didn’t understand it.

“Yes. I know exactly what I’m asking,” Kade replied with a firm nod, taking a step closer to Jamison.

Jamison gawked at him, his mouth left open. So many things ran through his mind to Kade’s response. None of it was anything he could make enough sense of to speak up. The only thought that kept pushing its way forward was their encounter during the ambush. Kade had chosen to do something unheard of in order to get out of Cynthia’s grasp. His request now had Jamison wondering if that had only been a stunt or something else entirely.
