Chapter 17: Troubles and Trials

“Your family is freaking nuts,” Willow noted, and raised a brow as Lilith let out a loud snort. “I mean, a vampire princess, a headless horseman, a guy from literal myth, and I’m pretty sure I ran into the personification of winter before you showed up.”

“The Underground has many kinds,” Lilith said, and pressed herself closer to Willow.

They walked through the mundane world, the morning sun gently rising, with Willow keeping a large umbrella over their heads for Lilith’s protection.

“I guess. Still, do you think Yuki will be alright?” Willow asked, and Lilith blinked.

“You treated her, would she not be?”

“It was equal parts human and fox problems,” Willow answered. “I have a nearly complete understanding of human biology, not…half fox biology.”

“That’s fair,” Lilith replied. “And…on that note, I was thinking about something.”

“What?”

“Your home needs a few defenses.” Lilith put a finger to her chin. “How do you feel about gargoyles?”
