Chapter 44: War Comes Home

Lilith punched the grass in front of her, but her weakened fist did nothing to it. She barely even made an imprint on the dirt.

Was this what her life was supposed to be like? Unable to do anything but cry and wail, unable to change anything?! Why had she suffered for all these years, if only to repeat the same mistakes, again and again?

How many more times would her family leave her behind?

“M-Morgan!” she cried. “I don’t…I don’t understand, why would you do this?! We worked so hard, created so many memories. And now you’re throwing it all away, and for what? For your pride?! Or do you just want to die?!”

“Lilith?”

Lilith’s tears stopped, and she took a breath. Standing behind her, dressed in a bathroom, was Willow. She had just gotten out of bed, a flashlight in her hand. She shined it on Lilith’s tear-stained face, and her eyes widened in alarm.

“W-Willow…”
