Standing Up for My Wife

The car glided smoothly into the gated neighborhood and came to a stop in front of the Gao family's home. As soon as the car doors unlocked, Su Li sprang out, all traces of his earlier distress forgotten. He turned to Gu Zi, his face lighting up like fireworks.

"Mom! Dad's back!" he shouted, hopping excitedly on the pavement.

Gu Zi recognized Su Shen's car immediately. Whatever lingering annoyance or worry she'd been harboring vanished in an instant. She quickened her pace, following her son's energetic skips toward the front door.

Before they even reached the entrance, Su Shen stepped out, clearly having been waiting for her. He strode over, purposeful and commanding, while Su Jing trailed behind him, holding little Su Le in her arms.

The moment they were close enough, Su Shen wrapped Gu Zi in a firm embrace and guided her inside without missing a beat. She didn't resist—truth be told, she had missed him too.
