Chapter 16: The Agreement
[At Yuuto's house]
(The time was 8:45pm, Hisaki watches the television in Yuuto's room as he hears the news)
ANCHORWOMAN: "And the weather forecast news time is eight forty five. Today have only been sunny, but looks like we're in for worse tomorrow. Our forecast is going to be rainy at eight four degrees. Cloudy in Hiroshima at ninety two degrees"
YUUTO: Hisaki will you shut that bloody thing off! (He shouted as he was in his room trying to sleep)
HISAKI: Actually, you are calling your TV bloody thing.
YUUTO: I don't care just turn it off I can't sleep with it.
HISAKI: And I can't sleep without watching the news.
YUUTO: Well watch it in the sitting room since I got one, Geez.
(Hisaki off the TV and heads to the sitting room to continue watching it. He is the type of person who likes to know everything around the society, so he explores round like watching news. But Yuuto...)
ANCHORWOMAN: "... And now China investment agreed to deal with Osaka industries, Japan in helping them with an estimated gross domestic product of US$14 billion. It is believed that Osaka industries have plan in making gross payment in dealing almost twenty one percent at purchasing power supply..."
YUUTO: I can still hear it!. Can't you turn it down! (He shouted from his room)
(After he said that, Hisaki smiled devilishly and increase the volume of the television)
ANCHORWOMAN: "Federal government says that there will be increased of financial income to workers at twenty percent this year. This was announced by the federal government minister to advanced the levels of skill workers..."
(Hisaki waited to see what will Yuuto do. Yuuto covers his face with the pillow)
YUUTO: I can't stand it!. I can still hear it! (He said as he got up from the bed and goes to the sitting room to meet Hisaki)
HISAKI: (Turns back surprised to see him) Oh hey buddy (He smiles)
YUUTO: You nuts, I told you to turn down the TV but you didn't.
HISAKI: But I try to turn it down...
YUUTO: Liar... Give me that remote. (He said as he tries to grab it from him)
HISAKI: Get your hands off it.
YUUTO: In my house (Sighed as he cool his temper) You know what I'm going to bed. (He said as he left)
HISAKI: Okay (He sits and continue to watch)
ANCHORWOMAN: "Scientists in the Tokyo science laboratory found that there are over hundred billion estimated stars in our milky way. This was said by a researcher, Nakadai Redmond and it was reported on Tuesday..."
(Surprisedly, he didn't go to sleep he was hiding behind his room door)
YUUTO: (Thought) This is my chance. Hisaki should be taught a lesson. (So he jumps out to take the remote) Give me that remote! (He said as he shouted)
HISAKI: I have to watch it till the end. (He said as he collected the remote)
YUUTO: No. It's just nine o clock and I'm trying to get some sleep.
HISAKI: But I don't want to miss the news.
YUUTO: You are just a...
ANCHORWOMAN: We also have a report about the daughter of the Ishida family who had been kidnapped days ago and was finally rescued by a mysterious man who wears a hood and a mask...
YUUTO: (Thought) What that's Kaaru (He said as he saw the picture shown on the screen)
ANCHORWOMAN: ... The daughter's parents were killed by group of gunmen. The mysterious man then rescued the daughter as the policemen arrested the suspects. Who is this man who rescued the poor little girl, some kind of a hero...?
YUUTO: (Thought) You stupid nerd.
(It was another day at Tomoyuki and Kaaru was in class sitting and stared at the outside window by his left side. His two palms were tied round with bandages, remember what Isogai did when he tries to stab with his sword but Kaaru hold it with his barehands. And he begin to be worried about what happened yesterday. There was flashback)
(Flashbacks)
(At Ippei's shop. Kaaru and Ippei were seated on a separate chair as Shin was standing going through the newspaper)
SHIN: You gotta explain what I'm seeing on the daily Tokyo Journal (He said as he showed him the paper)
KAARU: Er... You can see it then.
SHIN: See it. What I'm I a loser. Don't you know you got to be protected.
KAARU: Protected for what? The Aok. After those siblings died, the Aok has never shown themselves.
IPPEI: Maybe they're afraid that you'll kick their butts.
KAARU: Yeah good one, Mr. Ippei. (He said as he smiled at him)
SHIN: Will you be serious for once, Kaaru.
KAARU: (Sighed) Fine (As he rested his chin on his fist looking as if he was bored)
IPPEI: Let me see that paper (He said as he took it from Shin's hand) Hmm... says here that a mysterious mask man save a little girl from groups of gunmen. The chief of the Special Detectives and Investigators Agency (SDIA) agreed that he can work with them as a specialist in enabling them to tackle criminals in the city.
KAARU: Wait what? Working as their specialist? I can't work for them. That's not what I came for.
IPPEI: Wait that's not all. They will be a social gathering at the SDIA HQ tomorrow night to welcome the mask man if only he makes a speech and agrees to help them.
SHIN: From here you know what to do. Disagree!
KAARU: I know I know.
(End of flashbacks)
KAARU: (Thought) Should I agree or disagree?
(So Mr. Rio came in, he is their form teacher)
RIO: Good morning class.
STUDENTS: Good morning, teacher Rio.
RIO: I heard that you guys don't submit your assignments to the class rep.
(Suddenly students replied back to him with different answers. Answers like:)
"Sir we don't have a class rep!"
"Sir we do our assignment but we don't have a class rep!"
(Mr. Rio tries to calm the students down as the class was rowdy. Until he ordered them "Silence!")
RIO: Okay let's just settle this. You will have to choose.
(The class suddenly went back to their noise)
"Teacher, I want to be the class rep!"
"I want to be too!" (Said a girl had her hand raised)
"Me too!" (Said a boy whose hand was also up)
"I am well obedient to do the job"
KAARU:(Looked at everyone was surprised, who were screaming to want to be the class rep and he thought) Everybody wants to be the class rep.
EITO: Class be quiet! (Everybody turned to him as he was seem standing) Instead of arguing among themselves, we need to practice a system when everybody choose their representative as their jurisdiction. (Everybody looked at him with a confused look while some scratches their head and he looked back with surprise) We should cast our vote to choose our class rep that's what I mean (As he adjusted his glasses)
"Do you think that's a good idea, teacher Rio." (A student said as he looked at him to wait for an answer)
RIO: I like that. The most vote will be suited for the job. That's good of you, Eito.
EITO: Thank you sir (As he seated)
(Everybody started choosing who will be the class rep. Kaaru looks at everybody as he didn't know who to choose)
KAARU: (Thought) Who I'm I gonna choose? (He looked at Hiro, who was still thinking) Hiro she does fit to do the job. Yeah she does. (And he wrote her name)
(So the voting ended as the results are shown. Here are students with the number of votes)
Eito Satoshi - 10
Hiro Satoshi - 7
Kaaru Kagawa - 4
RIO: Well that's the result. Eito is going to be our class rep while Hiro the assistant.
KAARU: (Thought) How did I manage to have four votes?
EITO: (Stood up) I'll make sure I will be diligent to my duties.
HIRO: (Stood up) Me too sir.
(And the class applause for the two new class representatives)
RIO: And you Kaaru, you can assist them if any of them are not around.
KAARU: I'll do my best, teacher (As he was excited)
(At the cafeteria, it was break time and Eito was sitting close to Yuuto and Hiro sitting alone)
HIRO: I can't believe this is my first time doing this job.
YUUTO: Well good for you guys. I had zero vote.
HIRO: Don't be upset, Yuuto.
YUUTO: Who told you I'm upset?
HIRO: Nobody it just that you didn't have any vote.
KAARU: Hey guys.
(The three turned to the other side and saw Kaaru with his plate of food)
KAARU: Mind if I eat with you guys?
HIRO: Yeah sure. (She made room for Kaaru to sit next to her. She saw the bandage he has on his palm) Kaaru, you are hurt.
KAARU: No need to worry yourself. It's not that painful.
HIRO: Let me help you. I have healing powers, remember. (Raises up her two hands wanting to touch his wounded palm)
KAARU: No you can't do that now. Don't you know they will see you.
HIRO: Oh I didn't know.
KAARU: Congratulations to you guys for becoming our class rep.
EITO: It's nothing anyway, but I was surprised to see ten votes.
KAARU: I wasn't surprised.
(The two looked at Kaaru, Yuuto didn't bother to talk with them, he was just eating his rice)
EITO: Really?
KAARU: You know you are the number one popular guy in this school and a lot of girls like you.
EITO: And they were also reflected on my fundamental statement.
KAARU: That's what some think.
EITO: What do you mean some?
KAARU: Some don't really understand what you were saying.
EITO: By the way I'm not interested in being popular or having a crush on girls.
KAARU: Why? (He said with a confused look)
EITO: I want to study very hard so that I can finished my education and follow my uncle to the US.
KAARU: But how do...
EITO: End of discussion, I don't want to go further on that.
HIRO: I'm really surprised, did any of you voted for me?
EITO: I didn't participate.
KAARU: But you brought the idea of casting your vote.
EITO: I don't know who to vote.
HIRO: I voted for Kaaru. I think he can be suited for the job (Said raising up her hands as her eyes were shut and smiles)
KAARU: Oh same with me.
YUUTO: You nerds didn't vote for me?
KAARU: Do you think you will have the highest number of voters...
YUUTO: Shut up!
KAARU: Hey Calm down, Yuuto. (He said as he shakes his hands)
YUUTO: I already calm!
(The two started to argue while Eito goes through his phone and was shocked)
EITO: Kaaru, you are all over the internet.
(Kaaru was surprised to hear that he didn't know he could be popular all over the internet)
KAARU: I didn't know it will be everywhere, hehehe. (As he scratches his back head)
EITO: You save a little girl from gunmen.
YUUTO: I saw that yesterday night.
EITO: You don't get it, don't you?
(Kaaru glanced at him without saying a word)
(After school, Junri was at her store, she was seen carrying a pile of books and Kaaru came back from school)
KAARU: Hey, Aunty Junri.
JUNRI: Welcome Kaaru, how was school today? (She said as she drops the books)
KAARU: Was good.
JUNRI: By the way, do you know the news about the guy who wears a mask?
KAARU: Yes.
JUNRI: He's going to work for the SDIA. What will you say about it?
KAARU: Why are you asking me that?
JUNRI: I don't know how it feels working with a detective.
KAARU: (Thought) Me too. (So he speaks) Well if they can give him the opportunity that will be good to me.
JUNRI: He can take it and they will accept him. He can gain a lot of salary, ten percent I guess. So you will stay tonight to watch his social gathering?
KAARU: I can't. I wanna go hang out with my friends.
JUNRI: Okay. You aren't interested hearing the news?
KAARU: I am. I'll have to watch it live on my phone. (He went upstairs to his room. The house was a duplex, upstairs was the house while downstairs was Junri's store)
(It was nine o clock, the time of the event. Kaaru got up from his bed and opened his drawer and brought out his mask. He glanced at it and sighed, he wore it and jumps down. He made it to the SDIA HQ. He looked at it as he was surprised to see how big it is. He hasn't been here before, so it's his first time. Tan saw him so he meets him)
TAN: Hey XO.
KAARU: (Turned round) I don't think that name really suit me.
TAN: Why? It's written on your face.
KAARU: Yeah...
(A man came with two men by his side wearing black shades)
MAN: It's nice meeting you, sir.
KAARU: Right... Nice to meet you too.
TAN: XO, He is the chief of SDIA.
KAARU: Oh, I didn't know that.
MAN: It's okay. How about I show you round. (He said as he puts his arms around his neck and they left. A lady came to meet Tan with a tray of glass wine, so he took one and begins to drink as the lady leaves) You see I've been a chief for more than seven years and I made a promise to the citizens to bring peace and justice from all this madness.
KAARU: I see. (He said in a low tone)
MAN: Men, women and children go into crimes thinking the world cannot be change. That is how this headquarter was established (As he pointed SDIA building) to make Detectives and Investigators mark on the world in their own ways.
(Kaaru didn't say anything, he was just listening to what he was saying)
MAN: Allow me to properly introduce myself. I am the Chief of Special Detectives and Investigators Agency, Ushiki Daisuke. (He said as he uses his right hand to touch his chest with a sincere smile)
KAARU: (Was surprised and stared at him)
A voice from a microphone speaks drawing the attention of the people who attended the event.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to this special event...
USHIKI: Oh looks like it's about to start. (He said as he left while Kaaru stood and stared at him)
May I introduce you to the man of integrity, Ushiki Daisuke.
(There was an applause from the audience as Ushiki came up on stage and the man gave him the microphone)
USHIKI: Thank you (He said as the man left) Thank you all for coming for this wonderful special event. Ladies and gentlemen as you all know the city is full of violence and social vices but they will be a stop right now as a hero is here. (There was a surprise to some of the audiences) May I introduce you ladies and gentlemen to the hero in town, XO.
(There was an applause from the audience as Kaaru climbed the steps, ignoring the audience. Ushiki left leaving the microphone for him. He stood in from of the stage as the atmosphere of the place were silence. Kaaru turned his head looking at the audience. He couldn't speak because he can't face them)
KAARU: Good... (The microphone begin to make a strange sound and it stop. He breathes in and out as he overcome his face) Good evening to all of you, I'm really happy to see you all and it's my pleasure. You see I really appreciate you all. But working with the SDIA, I...
(People over all the city watches it live and waited to hear he has to say in joining the SDIA. Some watch it on television like Junri, Shin and Ippei in their shop, Hisaki at Yuuto's house but Yuuto was sleeping, Hiro and Eito from their phones)
