Lucia slowly turned around, curious to see what had happened in the store. She felt a pair of warm hands covering her eyes, blocking her view. She heard a familiar voice saying, "Just follow my lead. It's safe now."
Lucia nodded, trusting him. She didn't want to spend another second in that place. She felt him guiding her outside, towards the gas pump where the gallon was. He kept one hand over her eyes and quickly filled up the gallon with the other. He picked it up and led her towards the exit.
Once they were back on the road, he pulled down his hand and let her see again. Lucia opened her eyes and saw that they were away from the store. She felt a wave of relief wash over her.
They walked in silence for four minutes, before Callum broke the silence. "Aren't you going to ask me what happened back there?"
Lucia shook her head, looking down. "It's better not to know."
Callum clenched his jaw and asked, "Are you scared of me?"
Lucia felt torn. She knew he had intervened for her. He could have escaped, but he had come back for her. Her emotions were mixed; a part of her was afraid, while another part was grateful. He had saved her, and she wasn't sure about the fate of those people in the gas station.
Callum stopped walking and Lucia stopped too. She looked at him and saw his face close to hers. He leaned in and captured her lips with his.
She felt a shock of electricity run through her body. She felt his soft lips on hers, his tongue in her mouth, his breath on her skin.
Callum pulled away from the kiss and looked at Lucia. He saw her eyes wide and her mouth open in surprise. He smiled in delight,
Lucia couldn't help but gasp, her hands instinctively covering her mouth as she blinked at him in disbelief. "What did you do that for?" She questioned
Callum, seemingly unfazed, responded casually, "Well, you seemed distracted, and I just wanted to get your attention."
"You hooligan," Lucia yelled, her annoyance clear in her tone. She shot him a sharp glare before resuming her march ahead.
Callum laughed and followed her. "You don't have to thank me."He said it as if he had done her a favor.
Callum watched Lucia walk ahead of him. He saw her hips sway and her hair bounce. He felt a stir in his lower belly. He smiled and said, "Are you trying to seduce me by walking seductively in front of me?"
Lucia was speechless. This man was just being ridiculous. How was she trying to seduce him? She was just walking normally.
"Ah, I'm thirsty," Callum continued trying to lighten the mood, his tone nonchalant. "You didn't even grab the water bottle."
Without even glancing back at him, Lucia retorted, "Why don't you go back there and get it yourself? Aren't you like a gladiator? Going back there would mean nothing to you. No?"
Callum laughed, "Oh, you flatter me. You should have seen me in action. You would have drooled."
Lucia didn't respond. She had never met anyone so full of themselves. She thought he was exaggerating again.
"As your knight in shining armor," Callum went on, "aren't you supposed to treat me?"
Exhaling softly, the term "knight in shining armor" didn't sit well with Lucia, but she let it slide since he had saved her. "What do you want?"
Callum, who was catching up to her, asked, "Why don't you tell me something about yourself? Like your age or your hobbies?"
Lucia frowned, "You know it's rude to ask a lady her age."
Callum huffed and replied, "Ha, I think that whole idea is total bullshit. Only the old and ugly try to cover or hide their age when they have undergone too many procedures to look like what they're not."
Lucia frowned "Are you trying to say that I'm old and have undergone too many procedures?"
Callum, ever the smooth talker, smirked and responded "I never said that. And I didn't even call a name. Besides, I know for a fact that you haven't. When I kissed you from top to bottom, everything just felt soft and nice."
