George's face twisted into a frown as he heard Lucia's answers. He sneered at her, leaning forward, his voice was filled with sarcasm. "Is that the best you can do, Lucia? Do you really think you have what it takes to be a personal assistant to the CEO? Let me ask you a question, then. Maybe you can impress me."
"Lucia, being a personal assistant to the CEO requires a lot of creativity and problem-solving skills. How would you convince the CEO to invest in a time machine that can only go back to the Jurassic era?"
Lucia felt a twitch in her eyebrow as she listened to George's question. He seemed to have a personal vendetta against her, as if he knew her from somewhere and wanted to make her life miserable.
George looked at her with a smug smile, as if he was enjoying her discomfort.
Lucia gave him a long look, trying to recall if she had ever met him before. 'Did we go to the same university or something? She racked her brain, but she couldn't find any connection between them. 'What the heck, why is he being such a jerk?' She wondered
Lucia felt frustrated as she took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. How could he ask her such a ridiculous thing? I spent four years of my life studying hard in school, and this was the best he could come up with? She looked at him with disbelief, wondering if he was serious or just trying to test her patience.
'Should I just punch him in the face and run away.' She decided against it, and instead tried to answer his questions as calmly and politely as she could, hoping that he would eventually run out of steam or get hit by lightning.
Lucia glanced around the room, hoping for some inspiration. Then, a sudden idea flashed in her mind, like a lightbulb turning on above her head. She smiled, feeling a spark of excitement. She had it! She leaned forward and looked at George with confidence.
"To answer your question, Mr. George, I would tell the CEO that investing in a time machine is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. With this technology, we could go back to the Jurassic era and study the dinosaurs, collect their DNA, and bring them back to the present.
Furthermore, this would open doors for us to create a Jurassic Park and make billions of dollars from tourism and entertainment.
Beyond tourism and entertainment the time machine allows us to explore other periods of history and learn from them. We could even prevent some of the mistakes that humanity has made and make the world a better place. Wouldn't that be amazing?"
Lucia finished her answer with a smile. She glanced at Jennifer and saw a hint of admiration in her eyes. Jennifer nodded slightly, as if to say, "Well done, girl." Lucia felt confident again. Maybe I have a chance after all.
But then she looked at George, who was sitting across the table from her. His face was still twisted into a scowl, his eyes were cold and piercing, as if he was trying to bore a hole through her skull. He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest. He looked like he had just swallowed a fly and was about to spit it out.
Jennifer glanced over at George as well, who still seemed displeased. Jennifer almost wanted to roll her eyes; she had a feeling he had more to say.
George cleared his throat. "Lucia, that sounds like a very ambitious plan. But do you realize how risky and impractical it is? How would you convince the shareholders and the public that this is a worthwhile investment?"
Lucia bit her tongue so hard she tasted blood. She clenched her fists, ready to punch him in the face. 'How is that my problem, you dimwit? You asked me the question and I gave you an answer. What more do you want, you moron?' She took a deep breath to calm down. "Dear Lord, give me strength before I gouge this man's eye out with a pen." But she knew she had to stay calm and professional. She forced a smile on her face, looking him straight in the eye and said…
