"I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but you won't be getting that from me," the woman said, straightening up and strutting to her car with a dismissive flip of her hair.
Lucia bit her lip, her frustration evident as she kicked the pavement watching the woman's car drive away. She was about to vent her annoyance when Samantha's voice called out to her.
"Lucia!"
Turning, Lucia rushed over to Samantha, who enveloped her in a hug that caught her off guard.
"Thank you, Lucia," she said, holding her tightly. "No one has ever stood up for me like that."
"It's alright. I can't stand bullies," Lucia sighed, her voice soft but firm.
Samantha nodded, her gratitude clear in her eyes. "I know. And that's why you're amazing."
"You were cool just now," Samantha remarked, pulling away from the hug a slight smirk playing on her lips. "I thought you were going to get into a fight earlier."
