Anastasia replayed the scene again and again. They were currently in Valerian's room. Valerian had opened his floating screen for them and let them see the Laboratory's findings on Beatrice.

"I don't understand…" Ana nibbled the tip of her thumb as she watched the footage.

Valerian rose to his elbows, propping himself up using his pillows. "The virus affects the pituitary gland. It begins with seemingly ordinary symptoms: mild headaches, fatigue, and a slight disorientation." Valerian explained.

Ana tried to focus on the information, but her attention wavered. Her eyes involuntarily wandered, drawn to the area below Valerian's collarbone, partially exposed by his casually open button.

Unbidden, a flush crept up Ana's cheeks as her mind betrayed her, entertaining thoughts she scolded herself for. She quickly shook her head as she tried to shrug those indecent thoughts away.
