Chapter 235: The Higher Up

It felt like hours.

The Ascent was nerve-wracking for the boys, with the shaking and cluttering of the pots and pans, forcing the children to try and silence as much as possible, whilst waiting for them to properly see again without being spotted at the reflection. Its rise felt endless the more and more they micromanaged the appliances.

Ding!

Finally, the rumbling has stopped. The staff member would take his leave, rolling out the cart away from the elevator, prompting Zazel to peek out and see what floor they were on, assuming it was around the fifteenth.

A Glowing number of 30 was seen instead.

The Demon nearly lost his jaw when he saw it, yet when the two finally reached towards the hallway, they can see that, aside from the usual doors, one stood out, almost akin to a castle gate. Zazel would try to see if he can disorient the cart itself so they can escape without much trouble, planting the Sigil of Aym onto the object as it rolled. When he did, it immediately took into effect, making the cart conveniently snap off a wheel and forcing certain stuff to fall down, much to the dismay of the staff member. As he scrambled to get it all back, the two boys quickly opened the door and slipped out with no issues, planting a second sigil between them in the form of Seir, using Beleth to create an extra Seir for Solomon to utilize. Because of how sudden it was, it would be very easy to get spotted by the staff member and get found it, meaning they have to get lucky that he completely ignores them and carries on, while also leaving the gate open so that the two can enter and exit freely. Solomon even would try to word out how this is going to be more difficult, yet would stop himself when he sees that such a series of events actually happens before him. The Demon smirked as he took the two sigils in hand. "Misfortune and Fortune itself. Gotta love rigging the odds in our favor.." He'd tease, before leading the two and having them follow the Employee, being met with more frames of the Boss itself, and a second gate, where they waited outside of the door.

As they pressed their head towards the door, they would hear an immediate slam on an object, as well as a roar of pure anger. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY GOT IN?!!? DO YOU NOT HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE!?" The voice spoke, booming across the hall and nearly making the children stumble. It came so sudden, most likely a reaction to something. Zazel, steeling his nerves, would take the risk and slightly open the door, allowing more noise to escape, and as such, allowing them to hear what else they're saying.

"B-b-but they're just guests-"

BAM!!!

Another slam down, silencing the man instantly. "AND!? HAVE YOU NOT RECOGNIZED WHAT THEY ARE!?"

"T-they went by the names of Harley, Ti-"

"I KNOW WHAT THEY WANT TO BE CALLED! IT'S CALLED AN 'ALIAS'!! Have you not figured out that, maybe, they're HOLDING INFORMATION AWAY FROM YOU CRETINS!? The one who provided me the contract as a keepsake said it best: Take heed from a child with a suit and tie. Clearly you FAILED THAT BY LETTING HIM INSIDE THIS PLACE!!!" His voice echoed like mad once more, rupturing the walls and creating cracks through his voice alone. The demon even sported a few blood vessels to indicate his anger.

"W-w-Well then we'll just kick them out! We'll just focus back at the stupid human-"

"AND LET HIM EXPOSE THIS PLACE IN THE PUBLIC!? ARE YOU MAD!? I have already given my orders out to the other staff members, and I need to especially drill this into your noggin as well: Waste them. Leave no stone unturned and no mercy to spare. Waste them, and taxidermy their corpses so they don't find a way to come BACK!!"

"WHAT!? B-BU-BUT I CAN'T KILL THEM! THEY'RE CHILDREN-"

"ONE OF THEM CAN SUMMON THE GODDAMN SUN ON US!!! However, it is clear you're faulty as hell. You are Fired." With a snap of his fingers, the Boss quickly delivered his punishment towards the Employee, sending a searing migraine in his brain, slowly creating cracks across his skull and face. The Staff member screamed in pain, grasping at his hair, rolling around and sobbing nothing from his sockets, his forehead expanding more and more until...

Pop!

The head blew up. Like a balloon, it popped instantly, leaving the corpse on the floor. The Boss simply flicked a switch and dropped the corpse down a shaft, leaving the two boys with such a horrific sight, and leaving without another word, rushing straight across the halls and into the elevator, keeping their breath concise. "SO HE IS THE GUY WHO DID IT!" Zazel would state, finally gaining a chance to speak after dwelling in silence for so long, pressing a button to floor one, supposedly where their room is. "He's the one who has the contract, and by extension, he's the one who did all of this!"

"All we need to do now is meet with Harvard and Stolas, as well as the siblings, and let them know-"

KA-BOOOOOM!!!!

A Large explosion was made, straight down below, disrupting the elevator and forcing it to stop completely. Panic was beginning to arise from the staff members, with Zazel trying to pry open the Elevator doors to let them out, being met with what the source was through a nearby window: The Basement floor showing critical damages. Zazel stared at the devastation in shock, whilst Solomon's eyes began to twitch, taking a deep breath, and pinching at his nose bridge. "You know.....Just once, I want a day where things go reasonable and actually nice WITHOUT any problems. JUST. ONCE!!" The Shadow came to comfort the Biblical Sorcerer as he screamed such words, before running down the stairs to meet up with the two. "I swear to everything that's holy, if they did this because they felt like it, I'M KILLING HIM MYSELF!"

"Isn't he immortal though?" Zazel would question, being met with a Scowl from Solomon.

"IMMORTALITY BE DAMNED, I'M SENDING HIM STRAIGHT TO SATAN WITH MY BARE HANDS!"
