Chapter 274: Turn 12

Calico looked across the board once again as he'd roll his die, staring down the three monsters that desperately wish to take out his life. "T'em bloody beasts be enough t'ah kill me, it is. Me next turn 's goin' t'ah lose anotha' life, I can' be spendin' all of 'em a' once 'ere...Soon as I's revive, I's be in for a death wish. I's need a spell t'ah save me skin from all of 'em simultaneously. The runt in t'eh suit should hav' one, but there be so many, I's can hardly see the end of it." He'd think to himself. He looked to his side on Conquest, thinking on using it as a shield to protect him once again against the many threats.

He'd take a few paces back, before seeing something that caught his eye instantly. A Spell he once lost to the game, now a prime chance to take back. The Pirate's mouth began to curl into a malevolent grin as he'd rush towards it, taking aim towards the likes of Enma, Zazel and Solomon, deeming the latter as one of the bigger threats due to his adaptation of the spells in the area. Once he landed on such a space, he'd chant the spell, causing something to stir within their system. Small spots began to appear on their bodies, rashes that began to build across their arms. The two children looked on in disturbance to the others, prompting everyone to roll their dice to stay away from one another and to deal a killing blow before he could finish, seeing that it would most likely take up his next turn to finish it.

Anne and Enma would try to close in, with Anne collecting a card depicting a set of arms, casting it alongside the Monster to enhance its properties with a layer from hell. Enma's body would begin to swirl in fire, signaling it as Heresy, barraging the Pirate in a flurry of blows, letting the heat consume Calico around his being. Solomon kept himself far away from his own monsters, making them move close at the same time, skewering and slashing at the Pirate even further, watching his life dwindle almost immediately. With the forces of three monsters, one of such being boosted further by the First Mate, his health bar naturally plummeted, dropping down to zero within an instant. Zazel was quick on setting up two spells, trying to summon forth Osiris, straining himself as much as he can, noticing that the card for such a monster wasn't even glowing in the slightest. He'd infer that such a beast must be holding something else that's causing it to be prevented. As such, he'd switch plans and would cast Automation, now instead having the Monster be served as its core, planting it down on Calico's view, landing himself on Kimaris, the sigil being armed as he'd await the attack.

Harvard, meanwhile, would land himself on a new spell, but once again wouldn't be allowed to use it due to his maximum capacity. Annoyed by this, he'd cast out the spell that depicts the four black sheep, still lost as to how it functions. Upon casting, small bleats can be heard, as the four beasts entered, looking towards the boy in his crippled state and would nuzzle him, acting as some sort of comfort. Harvard was still perplexed by all this, but at least he has something that can help him traverse the area faster than his crawls. Upon reaching Calico's turn, as the group would anticipate the attack, the ones infected began to hear the words.

"Ring...around.....The ro~sie.."

"Pocket...full...of Po~sies..."

"Ashes.....Ashes..."

"We all.....Fall....DOWN!"

SHIKK!!!

Upon its attack, Solomon and Zazel had their eyes widened, their body growing limp, their vision fading. The sword the Devil possessed would slip out of his hands, clashing with the ground, as the two stood there lifelessly. Harvard looked on as he'd see his friends be idle, as well as Enma disappearing almost instantly. He felt ill when he'd see the bodies begin to drop, the gold quickly enveloping Solomon and dragging him down into the land first. Calico would begin to rise from the ground once more, his fourth life now prepared. "Ring around t'eh Rosie....I's nev'r thought in a MILLION YEARS I'd land it, let alone bein' so close t'ah me." he'd cough, the effects upon his own body fading away.

"How...What just....What did you...." Harvard wasn't able to find any words at asking such a question, yet Calico merely raised his finger and paused him.

"It be a spell that instantly wipes out one's body. A Spell that takes a mighty fine while, usually, when castin' it. Last time I recall recitin' such words is aroun'.....four years ago, on me voyage with a swordsman. Bastard kept attachin' new organs on his system to keep 'imself alive. Called it 'Organ Magic', said as lon' as he has a heart, it keeps beatin'. With this spell, however, it delivered a plague that shut down every single one of 'em he been storin', startin' wi'h a couple rashes, then intense bleedin' from t'eh orifice, then loss of vision, then finally, the switch. Powerful spell, it be, but it also has one big cost...I's has to be infected as well."

"....So you let them kill you first before the Virus took effect-"

"To guarantee I's survive anotha' turn, me boy! Damn bloody right I did! Two down, One beastie defeated, only on's left be me love, t'eh toys, and you, yah cur! T'is be the end of me rope, afta'h all! I's got nothin' else t'ah lose ov'r 'ere!"

KA-BOOM!!!

A Massive laser, emitting straight from the Automation itself, its face being a mirror to blast the light through his body, one with such power to nearly open the seas again. Calico, despite such injuries, still stood, with low health remaining. Despite such injuries, he simply stood there, dusting off his clothes from any ashes, and got his die. "Now, boy, le's see if I's land it two for two. All I's be needin' is a thirteen or highah!" He'd shout as he'd roll it.

Exactly the number he needed.
