The System's First Challenge - Part 4

The strike staggered it. The briefest of staggers. But it likely hurt Vol more. He felt such a shock pass through his forearm that he was sure his knuckles were broken. A brief flick of his fingers, pushing through the pain confirmed that they were not, but still, he'd come desperately close.

With that brief stagger, Vol was able to create the space that he was looking for. He regrabbed his warhammer, and gave a mighty sideswiping swing to the creature in front of him. It looked to catch it with its sword, but that proved to be an error in goblin judgement. It took much of the speed from the hammer, but couldn't stop it completely. The creature was sent skidding to the other end of the plateau, coming within a few steps of its edge, and the steep drop that hung beyond it.
