The Dragon's Den - Part 7

Or at least, it had been, until that explosion had worked its effects. Now it was slipping, slipping, slipping. Ever so slowly. It started with the gentlest of slides, as it lost its hold on the rock, and it scraped a path downwards, searching for a new purchase, down and down it went.

The soldiers that had been outright killed by the explosion began to run back to the fortress. Others attempted to run to the other side, but they were too far away. Only those just a little ways from the back seemed to have been granted any sort of mercy.

And then the bridge lost hold of the rock. It fell sharply, for a stunning few moments, dragging those men down with it. It looked set to fall into the void, but with a mighty groan, the half-severed chain of one side caught, slowing its descent, but only barely.
